Night course, time back from employer?

Hi, I know a girl whose employer is sending her on a 3 hour night course every Thursday for 10 weeks. Legally, is she entitled to get this time back or is at the employer's discretion? Thanks

They're paying for her to become more qualified, she should be delighted!

Can't imagine she's entitled to time off work tbh.

Thanks! Yeah she was just asking cos a colleague of hers is doing a course that's run only during the day and she doesn't have to work the time back
