i didn't know where to put this, but i just had my lunchbreak, and spent it revelling in some Stone Cold promos.

these are both examples from his 'What?' days, and i'm fully aware he did 'better' promos during his career, but for pure entertainment, i just loved some of the stuff he did here.

    enjoy.

That second promo is awesome. Cole just loses it and can't stop laughing.

Amazing guy on the mic. This was the great thing about wrestling before the PG era. No way he can do promos like this any more when he makes an appearance.

and it'll hurt me every time he comes back.

i'll expect something close to that standard, but the fact is it just won't happen, because he'll be too constrained.

that Royal Rumble/bar analogy, using the 'What?' gimmick, is just awesome. so brilliant.

Great wrestler and a fantastic character not too fond of his shark stories though

One of my favourite Stone Cold moments

What a man. The dude defined the greatest period of pro-wrestling, pure attitude. The glass breaking entrance, huge crowd pops and JR saying ''all hell is gonna break loose''

He wasnt the greatest wrestler but what a charecter.
Drinking beer, hunting, drove a pick-up truck, stuck the middle finger up to everyone, said what he wanted and kicked his bosses ass every week.
For me, he saved the WWF in the war with WCW, although they did themselfs no favours.

I know this board reeally loves the Rock, but I always thought Stone Cold was better than him at just about every facet of pro wrestling.

This is true, the Rock was a very average wrestler he was just so damn entertaining though,Dont sleep on Austins wrestling skills though guys he could go in the ring, but "Stone Cold" wasn't technical and the neck injury obviously effected him

as edk just said dont knock austins wrestling skills, before the neck injury he was one of the best technical wrestlers going, his time in wcw as stunning steve austin and when he was the million dollar champions illustrate this, he was one of the best, but his mobility went to sh!te after the accident, but where as most wrestlers would have floundered he styepped up to the plate and became the toughest sob in the ww(F)e

    Legend!

Im not knocking him. I know what Austin could do pre injury. He was a brilliant technition, but no Benoit or Bret.

I know most people love this segment, but they ruined it for me by showing the backstage footage. Should have just been the WWF guys getting beat in the ring and then the glass smashes and all hell breaks loose!

Even after his neck injury Austin was a great brawler. But much more than that he was able to bring the big match feel, which can be a bit lacking in modern wrestling.

for me, nothing can ruin that moment. It was THE moment for me growing up, and probably the first thing i ever youtubed (youtube is apparently a verb). I still absloutely mark out watching it.

I wouldnt have Rock in my top 5, unless you are talking about mic skills.

Personally out of the three Jazzy named, Stone Cold, Rock and Flair, I'd only have Flair in my top five ever. But thats just me.

But I'm shocked people are knocking Austin' in ring skills. He was brilliant. The Hollywood Blondes were unreal. Before the injury he was an amazing technician who could do it all. The way he re modelled himself as a worker after his injury and invented style that fit his character so perfectly is a feat that only an exceptionally talented wrestler could pull off.

Loved Stone Cold and still do, he was the first wrestler to make appreciate a compelling character and not just the faces. He was the first heel I supported and through Stone Cold I was able to look back at other heels like Flair and Jake the Snake to see how awesome they were too.

I hated when they made Stone Cold such a joke with the Invasion angle. People would say his character had gone stale at the time and needed shaking up. But I don't care what anyone says, Stone Cold should have been the leader of the WWF against WCW, and he should have been the old Stone Cold we all know and love. Not this guitar strumming, jealous of Kurt ****ing Angle because Vince McMahon didn't love him as much idiot. I mean WTF was that ****.

And if it wasn't for WCW's big players sitting on their hands I'm sure we would have gotten an epic Invasion angle with Stone Cold in his rightful place as the leader of team WWE.

it was them making stone cold heel and judging your reaction it worked a treat! the rattlesnake could never be heel, the character always got cheered so they had to make him that whiney kiss ass b!tch coz everyone hated him - classic heel!

I didn't care for it though, it disgusted me. It just made no sense whatsoever within the context of the Stone Cold who hated his boss and who would rather be sacked than toe the line with Vince McMahon.

His match with Bret at WM13 is still my fav match of all time. The sheer intensity of it was amazing.
