The red Shiraz is decent enough if memory serves me right. Might nip along and grab some.

I like the Zinfandel Rose and at that price it will taste even nicer!

I'll vouch for the Shiraz too. Excellent value.

Not to be annoying or anything, but you can't mix and match can you? Waste of money if you end up not liking the wine...

i will chance the shiraz this evening, at the price you cannot really go wrong IMO.

I am not too fussy about wine, drank many a box of wine (goon bags) while in australia, 5 litres for $10 :D

I've also bought the Shiraz before, think it's 5.99 or something like that normally - it's not too bad. €3.33 sounds great.

Love the sound of €3.33, might just pop out to Lidl myself tonight. It is really decent enough?? Could you serve it to people without shame do you think?

    The Soave is excellent.
    Buy it all.

    Pass on the Shiraz.
Its from the syrah grape which is very overpowering and peppery.
However don't doubt that some might like that.

Yeah, I'd expect that grape in this wine.

Anyway, it doesn't say "LIDL'S CHEAPEST WINE" on the bottle, so I wouldn't have a problem serving it to people I think.

What does the Soava taste like? I prefer a quite mild taste, I usually go for Sauvignon Blanc and can't stand Chardonnay, so what would this be along the lines of?

You'd like the Soave then, its not as "dry" (i know my wine terms :p) as a chardonnay and is very light and drinkable.

agree about the Soave, it's not bad at all, just off to buy my second box before they're all gone!

Wow, I'll definitely be swinging by Lidl on the way home. Thanks OP.

Sure if it's crap I'll top it up with 7up (or whatever the cheapest lidl lemonade is :p)

:D Just gettin flashbacks of xmas dins in my aunts house 2 years ago. She bought giant bottles of Soave up north and me and my sister were drinkin it like water at the table it was so "light". Compromising positions playing Twister with the relations is all i can remember after that :o

So does anyone know if it is possilbe to mix and match the wines or do you have to buy 6 of the same bottle?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,540 ✭✭✭✭2smiggy

i bought 2 of the Soave and 2 Shiraz. Great value !! Will keep me in at the weekend for a long time !!

I doubt if it is possible to mix and match. the rose is the only one slightly cheaper than the others but i doubt Lidl would like a box of 6 with only 5 in it and 3 bottles in another etc. when they are selling them as a pack of 6.

Stocking up for Christmas (!!!:eek:) at this price, the Rose is nice (for Rose) and the Shiraz is very glugable, a real bargain for 3.33 a bottle (less for the Rose), bought 2 boxes, might get another couple. Thanks OP

No you can't mix and match.
It's per 6 bottles otherwise you'll pay normal prices for them.
At the price you can't go wrong and not many bad reviews from BA posters over the years.
