We have our ferry booked for the end of july but no destination decided yet. We will have our car so are free to travel where ever we wish. Can anyone suggest a few location along the coast of France for 2 adults and 2 boys aged 10 and 11. We are think about renting a house and possibly cover two locations. But we do not know where is the best place ot go or to even look for information.

    thanks

    Cork to Roscoff?
    Rosslare to Le Harve??

Depends on what you are looking for.
There are lots of beautiful villages in Brittany for example.

When I'm planning a holiday in a particular country, I'll look it up on Google maps, see the towns and villages, look up images of them, use trip adviser for advice on particular place.
France is a big country, you need to decide what it is you want to do with your time.
I love to pick small, medieval villages with good restaurants.
I've been all over France and each area has it's own charm.
Decide how far you want to drive and take it from there.

How long are you going for and where are you arriving?

The end of July - start of August is peak so you'd want to start looking now. Google "House Rentals France" to get a list of companies that do rentals. I know that French Country Life are one of the companies.

Also maybe consider Chalets on campsites. Your children would have lots of readymade friends and you would have lots of facilities.

Normandy and Brittany are lovely but they tend to be cooler. The vendee has some fabulous beaches. The Loire Valley doesn't have beaches but its a fabulous place to visit.

last year we stayed in a lovely area, very central to lots of activities in the Vendee and a straight forward drive from the ports. Have a look yourself at labaudonniere.com Hope this is of some help to you.
