I know cricket is a game of glorious uncertainties and all that but anything other than an Aus v Eng final would be a shame...

Aus and Eng have been the best two teams in the tournament by a country mile and deserve to be in the final on Sunday

SL v Eng is too close to call given that they are playing on a slow pitch in St.Lucia....Aus will prove too strong for the maverick Pakistanis despite the slow pitch!

My heart says ENG v AUS final but my mind says SL v AUS final...lets hope I am wrong!!:o

What are the odds on a PAK v SL final??!!;)

I agree, Australia and to a lesser extent England have been head and shoulders above the rest for most of the tournament, and like you, think a SL v AUS final is most likely. I think Pakistan will probably get steam rolled by Australia and Sri Lanka beat England by 20 odd runs.

Hope we are both wrong, I would settle for an England (Morgan getting a century in the final!! ;) )v Pakistan final!!
    :pac::pac:

The toss seems to have had a bit of an influence on results during this tournament. When you ignore matches involving the lower ranking teams, and those affected by rain, the side batting first (which seems to be the normal option when winning the toss) is winning around twice as many matches as the side batting second (although the last 3 matches at Gros Islet have gone against this trend)

Gonna go with an Aus-Sri Lanka final, with Australia winning.

England have looked good so far, but I dunno. I just have a feeling they're going to choke today. Pakistan will be easily beaten by Australia for about the 67th time in the past 6 months.

Sri Lanka won the toss and batted

Great performance by England in the field - Sri Lanka 128-6 in their 20

Also a straightforward run chase so far, need 29 from 47, England 100 - 2.

Would be nice for Pakistan to do a job in the next game if England see this out, and they want shooting if they don't beat Sri Lanka from here!

    when did england get good?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,211 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

Hmmm comfortable win for England. Guess I'm not great at this prediction thing.

  • Administrators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 78,393 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭Beasty

    OK, time for Beasty's predictions:

Australia to beat Pakistan, then ...

...England to beat Australia in the final

England have hardly put a foot wrong all competition, and I think the final will mean more to them (never having won an international ODI competition) than Australia

Hard to recall when Enland were this efficient and effective in a major ICC tournament over the last 20 years

If, as expected, Australia do make it to the final (though Pakistan's unpredictability is legendary), it should make a spicy, mouthwatering contest on current form of these two sides!

England to win......that would set up the footie team to think they will win the World Cup and guess what....they won't!

It would be great for Morgan to be part of a winning team, especially as he has both been given a chance and has taken it :)

when they started to look for outside talent as they are not good enough to produce their own.
Top 3 are Saffas I am sad to say. Bet they don't sing 'god save the queen'

Enough of my rant. Go on Pakistan

last time when pak won the finals,
they only won 1 of their games getting to the final lol

but back then they had javid minadad :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 146 ✭✭boksmashoffice

They were led by a great Cap in Imran.
They also had Wasim and Mussy at their best. Shame I can't say that for then current team as the best players are not even in the squad.
    Go on BOOM BOOM

imran was great so was waqar

i have to say sami was a great browler but they banned him and i think hes lost touch now, shohaibs lost touch with injuries and bans
and banning yosuf, yonus and shohaib has hit them hard, idiots.

5 wickets for 10 runs, in 7.5 overs.

I agree totally. Sami lacks confidence. Razzaq is is just about keeping them in and I hope he has a great game.

The Akmals need to fire and give the bowlers something to defend.
The PCB guys are idiots. Banning their best players. BOOM BOOM is not a leader.

Cant see anything but another whupping for the Pakistanis....

Its been an utterly disappointing T20 WC with the closest match being between 2 mediocre teams...Ind v SL

This tournament needs a classic final...ENG v AUS

I have never been an Aussie supporter but C'MON AUSTRALIA:)

Only 7 runs off last over

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,211 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

Got home to watch the last 7-8 overs of that. Great stuff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,211 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

Australia are 62/4 and look like they're heading home.

I'll reserve judgement until White is out...

125 needed off 10 overs, 6 wickets in hand.

    A very tough task

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,498 ✭✭✭Mothman

White 3 sixes in six balls...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,498 ✭✭✭Mothman

    Down to last over.
    Mitchell Johnson on strike.
    Aus need 18 to win

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 343 ✭✭reb73

Wow, great hitting by Michael Hussey, 5 to win off 3 balls!

the pakistan's have self exploded. How can you possibly loose a game like that?
brainless play from them once again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 146 ✭✭boksmashoffice

    WOW indeed

Pakistan seem to be making a habit of bottling it against the Aussies, thinking back to Sydney.

That might be a bit harsh, in fairness it was mainly down to a really great knock from Hussey. Ajmal completely lost his way for that last over though, bowled a few really poor balls, considering they had runs to play with.

  • Administrators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 78,393 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭Beasty

Absolutely sensational comeback by the Aussies. Not so sure it was Pakistan bottling it - sometimes you have to accept performances like Hussey's can be virtually impossible to cater for. It highlights the nature of this particular form of the game, where (as has been shown on numerous occasions) an individual performance can dramatically change the direction of a game

Although I feel sorry for Pakistan on the day (in my view their all-round performance was far superior), it was absolutely the right result for the competition, given the respective performances of the two teams throughout it.

I still fancy England for the final though;)

    Difference being last over.
    Pakistan only scored 7

Also Clarke getting out quickly, the longer he stayed in the worse for Aus

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 146 ✭✭boksmashoffice

Hussey was amazing. But i think the fielding team has all the cards with 30 0dd in 2 overs. They did not click that Hussey scored most of his runs leg side and should have bowled more off side. I guess they aussies wanted it more. Plus all the 2's the Pakistani's gave away came back to bite thwm

fair play. they deserve to win based on that performance
