I got a fixed expander very like this fitted today :http://www.orthospecialistpc.com/Portals/0/Appliances%20(9).jpg Sorry, the pic is huge when posted and I can't figure out how to make it smaller.
I just have a couple of questions. My one has two metal bits sticking out the back, as in there is an extra metal arm sticking out past the tooth farthest back in my mouth. Is this normal? I haven't seen any pictures like it online and I'm a little worried.

The metal arms out the back are tearing up my tongue. Should my orthodontist have given me wax for it? Can I buy it in a chemists anyway?

    Cheers

Is it like that one? It's just removable instead of being soldered and fixed.

You'll get used to it. Just put some on wax on.

our orthodontist always says that new appliances can take up to ten days before your mouth settles down, however if your tongue becomes very raw or even bleeds go straight back as it might need to be tweeked.

We are not fans of wax, we much prefer a product called Brace Eze, its a gel that slightly hardens after application and far superior than wax, not the easiest to get, last tube we got was in the chemist in Dublin airport.
