im currently trying to get a dvd playing on my macbook pro but as usual its not happening.

now i normally have this problem with illegal copies of movies but this is an actual legit dvd.

ive used vlc and its doing nothing for me either.

funny thing is i dont get the usual seperate audio and video folders like i do on the dodgy dvds its atually giving me a load of setup exe files.

heres what i get when i open it up starting from the top down

    [IMG][/img]picture1tr.png
    ImageShack.us

now the data file thats in the first box contains nothing.

weird thing is it plays on my missus's pc(score one for the pc brigade)

    appreciate any help

Its not in DVD Format, its a DVD data disk with a movie. By the looks of it may only work on a Windows PC. .exe is a windows executable that would boot the disc presumably but as you have a mac you get nothing.

Virtual machine would do it but not worth it. Use hers.

They dont even let load it systemwide in schools which IMO is thick as we're meant to be promoting good driving among young people.

If you have a bit of spare time on your hands google virtual machine/vmware.

you've go a hole load of exe's on your desktop, non of which will work on your mac. take the dvd out, put it back in, quit anything that opens. Then open up dvd player and select file> open dvd media and then select the dvd, don't choose any folders in it, just the dvd from the sidebar of the window that opens when you choose "open dvd media"

The dvd looks like it has an autorun interactive bit of software on it, which will definitely only work on a pc.

    what's the dvd of/for?

Nope again, you've got it all wrong. Its not a video at all. Think of it more as a PC game, and PC only at that:pac:

explains it all. Its not actually a movie, so dvd player or vlc won't play it.

All it is, is a program that was put on a dvd (could be a cd if the size is small enough?) for ease of distribution. It has only been written to work on windowz so no matter what mac you put it in or program you try, it's not going to work. It's a bit like trying to talk to a chinese person that only speaks chinese, in every other language under the sun, no matter what you try, they aren't going to understand you. That is an extremely general, and also bad analogy but may help :)

You'll have to use a windowz machine.

    Try Wine as well. http://wiki.winehq.org/MacOSX

Might be easier than virtual machine

Think of the Theory Test DVD as being like a PC-DVD game.
It is not a movie, it is a program.
It won't work in anything other than a PC, not a mac, a PS3 or an xbox.
Wine will let you emulate win32 on Unix based systems just like Hummingbird lets you emulate Unix on Win32.

The package itself is just a glorified survey, no need for it to be compiled in such a manner. I'm surprised there isn't an officail online html version.
