    HI

I went to see a reflexologist last Monday and he has put me on a diet where i have a smoothie instead of breakfast and i have another smoothie before dinner.

The smoothie is 4 cherry tomatoes, one apple and an 1/8 of a lemon. He says that if i have this twice a day and cut out white bread and butter then i will lose weight. I am to eat normally apart from the above, just to chew my food more and concentrate on what i am eating rather than eating while reading/ watching tv/surfing the net etc

It seems a bit too easy so i am suspicious!!

He was able to tell me things i was allergic to and about old injuries and stuff though, so i have no doubt that he has some talent.

Just wondering if anyone else had tried something like this and how did they find it?

    Cheers

Well I'm no expert at all but I'd say you might need more than that in the morning to keep you going til lunch. I can see the sense in asking you to eat that before dinner as you may eat less at dinner if you're full from the smoothie.

But tbh I don't think it's a magic formula or anything. I think the rest of your diet would want to be fairly healthy combined with some exercise for you to see a difference!

You will loose weight if you drop breakfast and replace it with a smoothie like that, there would be very few calories in that smoothie. You would be starving and hour or two after it and its a terrible recipe for something that is meant to be replacing a meal. No protein or fats what so ever. I hope you didn't pay him just for that diet advice.

Why are you taking nutrition advice from a reflexologist? Is he a qualified nutritionalist as well? How can he tell you what you're allergic to?

A reflexologist is not suitably qualified to advise you on things like these.

IMO a smoothie for breakfast is not an adequate first meal of the day. No protein, fats, you'll be starving an hour later. Not to mention blood sugar levels.

Look I could've told you everything he told you about eating, cutting out carbs etc. Anyone who watches a bit of telly could tell you that.

A balanced diet and exercise is the best way to lose weight.
