Does this have to be done in a private tropical medicines clinic?

Don't know how many GPs would have access to to Tuberculin, which is used for the test - can't imagine it's that many. TMB might be your best and quickest bet, but it's no harm ringing a few GPs.

I've dispensed Tuberculin for Mantoux tests from the Pharmacy Dept in a private hospital, but never from a community pharmacy. That said, I can't see a reason why a community pharmacy couldn't dispense it if a GP prescribed it. I don't think it's restricted to hospitals. Am open to correction, though.

I had this done a few yrs ago in the hse public clinic in navan. It was free as far as I can remember.

It can be done in hospital if it's available, but it's probably easier to do at a travel medicine clinic. I was based in Waterford Regional Hospital for 6 weeks and needed a Mantoux for some medical elective applications, but they didn't have it available, which seems slightly ridiculous.. They said they run a short-term Mantoux service every so often when there's a backlog of people looking for them.

It was about €30 in a Travel Health clinic in Dublin for the injection and reading/signing off.

Depending on why you need it, if its for working in healthcare, occ health in most hospitals regularly do the Mantoux

I had it done in St James' a while ago. I was sick and they just did it, so I don't know about costs or anything though.

I contacted several GPs, no luck. Mercers only do it for RCSI students, so the only option is a tropical medicines clinic, as it is for travel purposes. These range in price from 80-50 euro.

Did you contact your local HSE public health clinic?

I got the skin injection at the navan clinic, then met the same doc at the (I think) laytown clinic a couple of days later.
    Thay didn't charge me.

Yes. They gave me the number for Dr. Steevens Hospital who said you have to go a tropical medicines clinic. The hospitals only appear to do the test for staff when necessary.
