My mistake. Thought it was an LRRAI shoot.

I have just received the details of the competition for An Riocht Castlemaine, please see below.

Charity Competition An Riocht, Castlemaine, County Kerry on the 26 and 27 of June 2010, all are welcome.

Please read the link below, Battens Disease is a very serious disease; it is devastating for the children and the family.

    http://www.medhelp.org/lib/batten.htm

If you cannot go to this competition please try and raise funds through your own club.

Please support this very worthy cause, Tony Heffernan is the Father of the two little girls that have Battens Disease, There is only one other case of this disease here in Ireland. If you wish to contact him, PM me and I will pass his phone number on to you or contact Paddy O'Mahony at An Riocht to verify the dates.

    I hope this helps

AFAIK, there is apparently a LRRAI competition being held on the 12th & 13th June in an Riocht, Castlemaine, also. But don't have any details as yet.

There's a little more information now up on the Wild Deer site:
    http://wilddeerireland.com/events.html

I was talking to a lad today & he reckons there are some great prizes. Apparently shooting trips to Africa & Hungary

Great cause though, hope there's a great turnout for the children with Battens.

A good cause. I reckon I'll drag the .25-06 down for this. I don't suppose anyone knows what the course of fire and such will be like?

Do you reckon she'll outshoot my 6.5x47? :D I'm thinking of bringing my big gun ;) that day but she might be a little overkill - Castlemaine is just 300 yards after all........

The Wild Deer site says their annual shoot is on too so if it's anything like last year, it will be 5 @ 100 standing, 5 at 200 prone without a rest (just elbows) & 5 at 300 with bipod/rest etc.
Couple of sighters to start of course.

    Anyone else going?

Nice round. Must have a look at that. Not seen one in the flesh before and it's an interesting development. What's the big gun?

For the standing and initial prone ones, are slings allowed to be used? Going to have to get some position practice in now!

Could Sparks or another mod add this to the upcoming events sticky?

Talking to one of the organisers during the week:
All shooters must produce current FAC for firearms they intend to use on the day &
all shooters must have valid insurance eg. NARGC, CAI, IFA etc.

There are going to be a couple of classes - "standard" sporting rifle, specialist guns as in f-class/6mmBR & heavy gun as in big 5 African type rifles, 375H&H, 416 Rigby etc.
    www.jcreedon.info
The web site will be updated with details in the coming weeks too.
