Hi I need to buy a new washing machine, however like most people I'm on a tight budget, I have a budget of 350 and need to get the best deal possible. I've narrowed the places down to Soundstore and Finucanes, I got ignored in Curry's:( so not planning to give them the business.
So anyone got any tips on how to get a discount or the best deal possible??

Go in, find one you like and ask them for their best price. I remember kitting out my first house and going into old Finuncanes and getting a couple of hundred £'s off the lot.

The sticker price is not always the actual price and offer to take it away yourself and you should get it even cheaper.(If you can take it away yourself of course).

The only way to get a discount is to ask for it.

How you ask for it is more about your personality - from "you'll look after me if I pay cash?" to "what's teh best price you can do that for?"

Don't be afraid to play one off against the other either. And I've always found Harvey Norman good for a barter, or better yet buy online

Go with cash in hand and ask for the spec, have a notebook/list with similar machines and prices both net and shop prices and ask for best cash price.

If they say no, move on to the next shop and let them know it :D

Pricematch get quotes from each shop and play them off each other. Every shop has a price guarantee these days and buy it off the shop that you will think will give you the best after sales

well, I did the rounds today, cash in pocket and notebook in hand. ended up getting a machine in Soundstore, thanks Cahill. got an Indesit 7kg/1200 machine, has all I needed, didn't want all the bells and whistles, more to go wrong. Paid 279 for it and took it away in the car to save on delivery charges. Happy days as I was prepared to spend 350 :D
