Caution

    Hi there,
as a teenager I was taken to the police station, and given what I was told was an informal caution (I was 14 at the time) and received a letter from the Gardai about 2 months after it, requestiing to meet with a liason officer, which I did, and nothing was ever said about it since. I'm wondering, how long does this informal caution hold for, what does it restrict me from doing, and who can access details of it? I am now an adult and was wondering if it still holds.

    Thanks for your help

It has no affect on you after you turn 18. The gardaí are the only people to have access to the information.

Is there any written proof of this somewhere? I am just afrad of applying for a J1 or for work somewhere and being rejected on these grounds and want to be certain.

I believe it is an offence to disclose your identity as a member of the juvenile diversion program.
