    Hi folks,

Quick question that may have a long answer...

I've heard a roumer that if one holds a full B license for more than 2 years, they are exemp from requiring the C & D category licenses if it's a vintage vehicle, and there is no more than 7 passengers... I've sifted through the various road traffic acts and can't find any reference to it, although it does seem to exist in other countries.... Can anyone shed some light on it please??

Pretty sure you're wrong: Category B license means just that.

A full Cat B license, regarless of its date of issue gives you 3 rights.
    1. To drive a car, unaccompanied, and on motorways.
    2. A car is defined on the license as a vehicle less than or equal to 3500kg, holding 1 driver and less than or equal to 8 passengers (so something like a hiace van is probably included in that category)
    3. To draw a trailer, without an EB license, provided that it has a Design Gross Weight under a certain amount, I think it's 750kg.
I'm almost 100% certain vintage vehicles don't come into it, Cat B is very clearly specified.

Yeah, old german car licences were also valid up to C1 (7.5t) but all that was done away with under the harmonisation of driving licences in the EU (2nd driving licence directive IIRC).
