What proportion of cars are tagged for tolls?

I was walking home from work this evening and looking at the windscreens of cars to see how many had tags on them for electronic tolling, looked like around 25% or so, I'd imagine this would be a much higher figure?

Rare to see any tags at all outside of Dublin, though - so I'd suspect about 2/3rds of the country has a 1% or lower figure.

Feck all tags outside Dublin, having looked into getting a tag I can see why.

While I can get a tolltag and it'll save me a few cent on the M50 versus paying on-line/phone or shop it saves me NOTHING on any other tollbridge I've looked at on any website, so in short its really of no big benefit to me.

So did I get one....of course not.

Recently got myself an eflow tag, primarily for the M50. Only use the tollbridge on the odd occasion, but kept on forgetting to pay it so cost of fines was racking up. I haven't had to use any other toll road, yet.

I reckon it saves me about 2 minutes each way each day, 20 minutes a week.

There are tolls outside of Dublin, just so people know. My friend has a Toll tag and has never driven his car in Dublin.

I was thinking about getting one.

But I only travel through the toll twice a week.

Is there a monthly charge on a tag that would make it a waste of money for just using it twice a week?

Monthly accout fee is €1, and would be debited from whatever payment you use along with the toll charges for that month. The toll on the M50 with an eflow tag is €2, and without a tag is €3, so you would probably save a few euro monthly by using the tag, but really do your own calculations to see if it's worth it

    Thanks for that.

    I'd save €7 a month or €84 a year :D

+ it would be more convient

Never seen one here. Maybe now with the B-sloe toll they'll start to appear a bit.

Tolltag.ie do pay as you go and similar options that dont have a monthly charge, think they are slightly more expensive for the toll - so depends on how much you are using the toll bridge. Plus they are the size of a matchbox rather than the bar of soap eflow tags.

edit: found the fees, cant seem to get the table tag working so its a bit all over the place - I have the + one

If you are living outside of Dublin (M50 commute) then there is no real need to get a tag, even if you are a regular user of another toll the queues would never justify the monthly service charge also there is no cost saving at any other toll apart from the M50.

Yes I have a tag as I use the M50 on a daily basis (weekdays), it is worth it so you only have to pay €2 each way.
