In a situation where an organisation ordinarily pays double time on a bank holiday..does that organisation also have to give an extra day pay/extra day holiday in lieu of the bank holiday whenever a bank holiday is worked?

This is in a sutation where members of staff who do not work the Bank Holiday also get a days pay/day holiday in lieu etc..

I have checked out the info at Citizens Advice Website, but can find nothing relating specifically to this.

    Any advice appreciated...

    thanks

    Rob

there is no "overtime rate" for bank holidays if you work them.

    two scenarios
one you dont work the day and get it as an extra day off that week ie 3 days(inc the bank holiday) instead of 2 but you still get paid wages for the bank holiday. there are a number of methods to caclulate what it is you are entitled to depending on your employment status but suffice to say on average, the money for the bank holiday should be the same as your normal monday. other wise its one-fifth your average weekly wages based on the previous 5 weeks employment.

if you do work it you get paid at flat rate for the day.however because you worked the day you get the same hours calculated into you bank holiday entitlement regardless of your previous hours worked there however its only active after 13 weeks employment.
