Well if you want something better/faster looking at a netbook probably isn't the best place to start. Netbooks are designed to be small, lightweight and power efficient. The trade off being power and speed. They use low power processors to save on battery life, so running intense apps will kill them.
That being said if it's for web browsing, some typing on the go and such it would be fine.

The more details you give about the kind of use the netbook/laptop is going to get the better.

Well its just something for herself to use outside the home/ in college
i picked net book cos its small enough for her to carry with a decent battery life,
i dont think her college work will demand too much out of the processor just Basic office progs and web searches, She would like the option to watch DvD/ tv programs on it either streamed or otherwise... I cant imagine it will be used for much else as we have a home computer
    Cheers for info

Should be ideal...Theres a 1001HA(?) selling for 249 in Dixons/Currys and maybe PC World which is the virtual twin (apart from black carbon fibre weave effect appearance)of the 1005 and a complete steal...
