Those guys left EIDW and re-located to Weston in 2008, AFAIK they got a water cannon salute too.

There were two clubs based in Dublin, the Airport Flying Club, whose sole C172 EI-ING is based in Weston and the Dublin Flyers who operated Piper aircraft who I believe have their aircraft based elsewhere, Trim or the likes not too sure.

stuff in brackets for the beginners on the forum

thanks for all the info folks,

So do Dublin (EIDW) handle any G.A.(General Aviation) traffic anymore ?

I've always wanted to land in there at night but I reckon this would be a costly operation , still , I see on youtube someone has managed it before in a Cessna 172.

what are the costs likely to be ? if this is even possible anymore , would they allow a quick touch and go landing perhaps ?

    thanks in advance

i dont know about the costs for landing at DUB are i presume there skyhigh like LGW, but during the time of the volcanic ash when the airport was closed there was guys flying c170 into the airport.

    hi all,

As far as I know EIDW were looking for around €200 to do touch and goes when they were closed during the ash cloud. Low approaches are free and you get all the fun apart from the landings (which I suppose would be the best part if you can afford it)

Used to be a member of the Airport flying club, it was great fun flying in and out of Dublin mixing it with the big boys. When rwy 29/11 closed down it became very difficult to fly in and out of the airport, you could be holding for ages just to get in on 28 (Once I was holding over broadmeadows for nearly an hour) and this really put an end to general aviation there. When GA finished we moved out to Trim and the club now split's it's time between there and Weston.

During the airspace closure I took a robin out of weston and did 200ft approaches down 28. I never heard any mention of charging €200 for t'n'g.

The only reason we couldn't land was because of work ongoing on
the runway. Tower were very accomadating and let's us go round twice. My vid is up on the sticky page.
