We've been looking into holidays for the summer and between the cost abroad in August and everything else I'm swaying towards Ireland. As we've been everywhere but Northern Ireland I'm thinking about a week at Port Rush self catering. Anyone any tips on activities to keep two 10 year old's busy for a week there or other general tips for the North in August?

    Thanks

As someone who has visited Portrush too many times to mention, I feel that you will not have any problems finding things for your 10 year olds to do.

Hopefully, the weather will be nice and warm and sunny for you. There are two great beaches, West Strand and East Strand, separated by the rocky peninsula. The sea can be rather cold, even in summer, but that didn't stop me as a 10 year old from having fun splashing around in it. It can also catch good waves from time to time so a bodyboard might be a necessary purchase for the kids if they want to ride the waves.

There's a really good 9-Hole Par-3 Golf Course that's great for the kids and adults alike. It's right beside the Royal Links Course.

Take a trip to the Giant's Causeway. It's something that really has to be done when you're in the area. And then to Bushmills Distillery and do the tour. Even kids can find this interesting but not normally :)

If the weather's playing up, there's always the Amusement Centres. Barrys being the biggest and best of them, with the Big Dipper, the Cyclone and many others, so be prepared to spend a few pounds.

Hey that's great thanks for replying deman0. The kids did some body boarding last summer and have wetsuits so that's a bonus. Any recommendations for accommodation? Looking for somewhere along the sea front and within walking distance to the town.
