    Hi There -

Desperately need some advise - my 19999 Renault Megane Coupe has broken down yesterday pushed it over to the side of the road which happens to be a Pay and Display !! So will need to get it moved asap.

My question is I was thinking of replacing it anyway with a new car ( Second Hand) so i dont feel its worth getting it fixed. Some little pins came out of the engine and oil leaked so might be very expensive to fix.

What will I do with my vehicle ?
should i get it towed to my house and put it in the buy and sell and sell as seen - maybe get 500eur - is their a market for this. Car not in bad nick has NCT till next Sept 2011.

or should How i get the car scrapped? Will it cost me to do this?

    any other suggestions

Might just suit someone with a similar car with good engine but failed the NCT. Worth little but no harm sticking it on adverts.ie or somewhere for a week or two.

It could be anything from a broken wire to a broken timing belt! So it could cost anywhere from €30 to €1000 to get fixed.

Best get someone to look at it and they'll tell you fairly quickly. Non running cars are usually fairly quick to diagnose.

check if your insurance policy has breakdown assistance for a start...

What do you mean by little pins?

I was just thinking that because its a 99 Renault those little pins are probably pistons :D

OP, as someone said, see if your insurance has breakdown assist. They will bring it to a garage and let them asses the damage.
