    Matt Mitrione.
Meathead from the TUF 10 house, one of the most hated competitors in TUF history by fans and fellow competitors.
And look at him now. Just defeated the YouTube legend Kimbo Slice on the biggest PPV of 2010 so far and is sure to get a couple more fights off Dana for that.
So whod have guessed it? The guy from TUF 10 making the most impact in UFC (and I include Roy Nelson) is Matt Mitrione.
You got of got 100-1 on that.

He (a MMA novice) beat Marcus Jones (a MMA novice) and Kimbo Slice (a MMA novice).
    What so special about that?

Fair play to the man he's improving and is getting his rewards for it but come on it's nothing great at all. He hasn't a patch on Big Country either.

Didn't watch that TUf but thought he looked very good against Kimbo. Very cool., very relaxed, seemed to do the right things at the right time and had nice techniques. If they keep him away from top 10 guys and allow him to develop no reason why he can't better and better.

He seems like a much nicer guy than what we saw on the show anyway. Maybe he got that temper of his under control. He showed a good chin in his fight against Junk. The McSweeney fight showed that he didnt have the mental tools to fight at that level but now it looks like hes not taking hiomself so seriously and is just enjoying fighting and thats good to see. Love to see somebody smiling during a fight because theyre enjoying it, not as part of a mental game. Definitely gotta keep an eye on him as hes only now receiving proper training and it showed in his fight against kimbo. Hes definitely got power in those leg kicks too. Even on the show he nearly crippled madsen with them in training. As was said though so long as hes not thrown into the deep end too fast. Maybe see him take on the struves and hardonks of the division before going to Gabriel "The gate keeper" Gonzaga.

    Hi Matt.

No way on earth has meathead made half the impact on the UFC that roy nelson has, he beat a useless kimbo slice who has cardio for 3 minutes and zero ground game.

I predict that as soon as he meets a mid level opponent he is getting beat easily.

Just out of interest how do you equate meatheads victory over kimbo as more defining than Nelson sparking a legit Struve? Do PPV wins mean more or something..

I liked him on the show :D
They really edited it to make him seem like a fool.
I really hated that blonde dickheaad on the show though and he was the one bullying mitrione it seemed.
Hope thats the last we see of kimbo "lets bang" slice

Well what I mean is Nelson has only fought on the less important 'Fight Nights' on cable. Dana musnt see him as ppv material yet.
Plus being on PPV would surely earn you more money, which Im pretty sure thats Mitriones main motivation - hes not thinking about being title shots any time soon (I acknowledge Nelson has a guaranteed contract). Of the two guys, Id say Mitrione is the more satisfied right now.
For the record, I believe Nelson will go on to be vastly more succesful.
Im just saying Mitrione has already gone a lot further than many would have predicted.

If he learns submissions and GnP he could be a real world beater. :p

This is not what you were saying at all Mittrione beating a scrub like kimbo slice (finally ending the freakshow) has little impact in the world of MMA.

People interchange between the fight nights and ufc numbered cards all the time so this really isnt a proper argument to use as to how dana white views each guy. The reason this fight was on this card was both men were able to fight and dana could sell the fight due to bad blood between them.

Funny aul moustache he was sporting at the event.

When i saw the build up vids it reminded me of a comedy show where the lead goofball grows a moustache just because ''he's now able too'', it just looked ridicules on him(and fake) :D

Don't think anything more really needs said than that, but would like to throw in that Nelson made Kimbo look like a complete fool during their TUF fight, Mittrione didn't look anything near as comfortable

How many non TUF related fights have both had in the UFC?

I'd like to see how he will react to his first professional loss. How he'll handle a defeat will show just how good his character is.

I can't stand him. His smiling creeps me out too.

Bit of a spoiler title is it not.

 UFC 113 already aired live on UK & Irish TV 2 days ago. What exactly are you waiting for before it's not a spoiler anymore?

He's fought two professional fights and you think he's made a huge impact?? One against Slice and the other a now retired former NFL defensive end.

He may have somewhat stood out on TUF, but that was one of the worst TUF's, if not the worst of all time considering gassing out was a common element to most fights. Also, he was far from one of the most hated housemates of all time, yeah a bit annoying at worst, but far more hated fighters have passed through the house.

Mittrione wouldn't have been on the main card if it wasn't for Slice, who although a fairly useless MMA fighter (but credit where its due for battling it out and training hard for it), is hugely popular amongst some corners and had the fight televised for this popularity.

Also, I don't see Fight Nights as unimportant at all as these are (as far as I know) free in America, and are run to try and hook new viewers in, so it could be argued that in terms of drawing new viewers in, they are AS important as PPVs.

I reckon if he could get a match with someone who could go a full 3 rounds without being gassed he'd be in trouble!

Just look how heavy his hands were in round two, if he was to fight Mir or Carwin it'd be goodnight!

I'd agree, but wouldnt even need to get that high up the pecking order. I reckon guys like CroCop, Nelson, even former UFC guys like Arlovski and Sylvia would make easy work of him.

hated him in TUF, still hate him. wanted kimbo to knock him out but gassed like his last fight. Mittrione was even gassing in the middle of the second. I guaranteed if he fights somebody even at the lower end of the HW division he will get beaten.
