    hi all,
back in the gym after a few months... wrk has been hectic. but am already bored of the treadmill. back about a week know and i start off with a 4km cycle on resistance level 7 and then do 3km on the threadmill but am finding that im bored and not motivated.... im considering doing swiming on alternate days but am unsure if its beneficial and if so in what way?
target is to lose a little weight and get fit enough to run 10k (at the moment im f**ked after 3k, being 13.5 stone and 5ft 8'') and im looking at spend 3-4 sessions in the gym a week.
    any advice welcomed as always
    thanks

Swimming is a good exercise, but it's not great for losing fat, simply because you tend to get hungrier after swimming than after other exercise. If you do it right, you can pile in the calories and pack on the muscle, but most people don't swim hard enough to get the benefit.

I did once get fit for the Maracycle with an injured knee by swimming 3 miles a day. But I was so sick of swimming after that that I've barely put my toe into a pool since.
