    Sports Expo Ireland
Sunday June 6th @ Limerick Race Course 10am-7pm
Taking place for the first time Sports Expo Ireland has been organised by Danesfort Event Management Ltd who have built a national sports expo around an international event. After securing the international competition Strongman Champions League we set out a plan to make this event a national event which will take place in Limerick for the next 5 years.
Our aim is to run an expo unlike any other in the country where people will be amazed and enthused by the expo and it will encourage them to take up a sport, try new activities and think about the fun that they can have.
Strongman Champions League Ireland is our main event and it will feature twelve athletes nine of whom competed at the 2009 Worlds Strongest Man competition including the reigning Worlds Strongest Man Zydrunas Savickas from Lithuania. Strongman Champions League Ireland will be televised on 16 television channels around the world and will attract a national media interest as it is the first major strongman competition in Ireland.
Athletes will compete in events such as the celtic cross walk, car dead lift, truck pull, Viking press, loading medley and a super yoke and farmers walk medley which will result in a very intense and enjoyable show. We have attracted some of the biggest names in strongman Zydrunas Savickas, Ervin Katona, Agris Kazelniks, Kevin Nee, Travis Ortmayer and Johanes Arsjo all of whom are amongst the top strongmen in the world.

Loads of them, releasing Cellucor on the day there so lots of freebies with that.
Main lines should be Cellucor, Axis Labs, Scivation, MHP and also possibilities on VPX and Sci Mentor.
Again there will be a lot of discussion on all the products and the reasons why AM Nutrition have chosen these products and not others

Originally the Strongman was advertised as a 2 day event, Sat and Sun, is it now just Sunday?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 158 ✭✭weeman2

Yes unfortunatlet so this was due to two factors athlete availability and the recession.

It is much more important for us to run a great event than get two days gate recipts our goal in this is to bring WSM to Ireland and the only way to do that is get people interested in the sport by running very enjoyable and great value events.

I hope you agree that what we have lined up is pretty good for €20

Super lifting today. It was a thoroughly enjoyable and well organised event.

Impressed by many of the 105kg novices, and a big shout out to Stevie Collins who placed third in his first event.

Many of the lifters at the IDFPA came with one goal in mind, and that was to hit their qualifying total for the worlds; therefore, many of the lifters merely did what was required to qualify and went no further.
The usual lifters however impressed at the bench press challenge, notable the beast that is James O' Connell, hitting 210kg raw bench.

The Strongmen are huge, bigger than you'd imagine! i was sitting in the cafeteria with the lifters, and my god do they put away some amount of food! Got a good few pics of the event, and many of the lifters. Terry Hollands and the Big Z were neck and neck for the whole event, sitting on 56 and 55 points respectively coming into the final event, but Zavicas managed to sneak it in the end!

Good day on the whole, saw the Bro and a few mates lift, got a few free testers etc, and class Iron Asylum gear!

    Congratulations to all involved!

Who won the strongman? How'd Shane Brodie do?

And Stevie's such a little freak. I hate him at tiems because of it.

SCL was a draw with Terry Hollands and Zydrunas Savickas both tied even after a countback this is the first time it ever happened.
