Drag to the left front tyre when pulling off

    Hi all.
06 BMW 318i. I've had it since last September.
My dad pointed out today, a kind of drag he could hear coming from the left front tyre, as we were pulling off from a stationary position (so in 1st gear). I have only been driving a few years so I didnt really take much notice of it.. He thinks its something I should get checked out.. I thought at first maybe its just bad foot work on my behalf, but he then took the car for a spin, and the problem was still existant. We both agree that the car sounds and feels totally fine in the other gears.

I was just wondering if anyone has any idea as to what could be causing this issue? I still have a few months left on the warranty so I may bring it in for them to have a look..

    Thanks

Bring it in immediately. Could be a wheel bearing or CV joint.

if its only in first gear it has nothing to do with the front wheel at all as your b,w is rear wheel drive it could only be a cv joint at the rear not at the front, if it was a bearing then you would hear it constantly not just in 1 gear it would get louder the faster you went.if its only in 1st gear then it must be something going wrong in your gearbox

best to get it checked out by a good mechanic.

Well I had it in with the garage.
They found absolutely nothing wrong with the car.
I'm not convinced. I showed the after sales service guy the noise and he claimed it was totally normal and that Im just not giving it enough power when pulling off..
At the same time, I got the feeling that he too was a little unsure...
So to be sure, I'm going to get a second opinion.

Any recommendation on who I should get to check it out?
My warranty is with Toyota, so does that mean I can get any Toyota dealership to have a look and fix if necessary for free?

Your warranty may be vaild anywhere.. as they are jsut insurance schemes... but be aware that this could be wear and tear and covered by no warranty..

are the pads sticking.. or does the front rotor have a lip?

If its a borderline issue, the garage who sold it were never going to find it tbh. Take it to someone who did not sell you the car & get an opinion.

just had my car in for a service and they identified the problem.

The following needs to be replaced :

    Fan belt tensioner
    Fan Belt

I have contacted the Toyota dealer I bought from and they are momentarily getting in contact with Toyota (its a Toyota warranty scheme) to see if they will cover these items.

The main problem im having is that the warranty ends Saturday.
If say for example they cannot take my car in tomorrow to repair and say monday is the next available slot, must they still cover me under the warranty despite it lapsing Sat?

    Thanks

For got to add, any idea how much it would cost to replace these 2 items if i gotta pay out of my own pocket?
