Is this a myth?

I recently heard that if you take two contraceptives pills the day after having sex that it works in the same way as the morning after pill?
Is this true? I find it very hard to believe as I do not understand how a pill to prevent pregnancy can do this?..

Would like to hear some opinions :)

I got a telling off from a moderator for answering this question a while back. Ask your GP- and they'll tell you the correct answer!

It's a myth with some basis in fact. Long ago there was a brand of pill that 2-3 tablets of would have been equivalent to the morning after pill. The morning after pill has since changed formulation to something far more effective and with less side effects. So in short the answer is no, not anymore. Don't try it.

Think of the consequences of being pregnant, for a minute.
Think of taking the short cut and multiplity it by the chances you might be pregnant. It seem very irresponsible for the risk of the unwanted pregnancy or having to face into an abortion.

Please do the sensible thing and go to an A&E or see your GP asap, and take proper precautions for next time.

The MAP is something like 6 months of the normal pill in one dose. So no, two pills would not do the same job, and if you honestly believed that, I beg you to further educate yourself on contraception.

kjl Unhelpful and off-topic posting will get you banned from this forum.

PopUp do not give medical advice on this forum.

aimerlans if you or someone you know is in the situation where they require emergency contraception then to go to a dr or a family planning clinic asap as the morning after pill is less effective over time.
Many clinics have a walk in service on a Sunday.
