My boyfirend is doing a thesis on Wind Energy and would love to get a couple of people to answer a few questions on certain topics.

Below are the questions. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks guys!:)

The questions might be good to raise a few issues on the topic for discussion on here. As I see there is a popular thread on wind turbines on here already.

    1) Considering that wind farms are continually being rejected to possible negative effects they may have on local wildlife, what actions have or could be taken to prevent negative effects on wildlife?

    2) Due to the high cost of turbines and lack of investment and incentives for investment, what actions have been taken to attract investment?

    3) How easy or difficult is it to forecast wind energy levels and what is being done to help forecasting become more accurate to ensure we meet the potential demand?

    4) What are the main complications regarding the security of supply in terms of the introduction of new grid connection agreements?

    5) What are the solutions for the ongoing technical challenges associated with accommodating wind power penetration levels?

    6) What benefits do you feel wind energy has over other non-carbon emitting sources of energy?

    7) Do you think that Irelands carbon reduction targets under the Kyoto Protocol are sufficient in the prevention of global warming?

    8) Do you feel that developed countries have a greater obligation to cut carbon emissions than their counterparts in the developing world?

    9) Do you think that carbon offsetting is a practice that has genuine environmental benefits or is it equivalents to playing 'carbon musical chairs'?

    10) If there was a massive push towards wind energy do you think that might be counter productive given the large amounts of energy required to build, operate and dismantle a typical wind turbine?

    11) In your opinion, to what extent will wind energy help Ireland become greener?
