This lad has been great for Blackpool and Everton this season. Just looking at the fight and performance from the lad in Blackpool vs Forest.

Surely this guys should be in the Ireland squad? Some Duffy lad from Everton in there ahead of him who has achieved far less this season.

Also crap like McShane still making the squad when he can't even make the Hull City XI when they are a terrible side. Kilbane is setting his ways as well but at least he has top level experience.

No, played good against Tottenham and today other then a silly fight and yellow card he's struggled.

I think he was left out of the training squad due to Blackpool being in the playoffs

Fair enough, was just thinking he should definitely have been in that training squad. That Duffy guy and several others did not merit a place ahead of him going on this season.

Played well from what Ive seen of Black pool this season. Played brilliant vs Spurs, and tbh that is a hell of alot more than most of that training squad achieved this season.

Some Cunningham guy from City was in there as well without even playing a game for City...

He's not available for selection for pointless friendlies as he is currently playing in the most important games his club have been involved in for about 25 years.

Takes longer than a few months for the magic flight across the Sea to get into Traps team.

"Some Duffy lad", is he not the lad that everyone was raving about a few months ago?

Duffy was all over the papers, well not all over but a good bit, because he picked the Republic over the North and the North desperately wanted to keep him.

I dont know enough about Duffy or Coleman to be honest but I do think its hard to judge who gets in the squad or not at this stage.

One thing we should be delighted with is that there is the oppurtunities for them to get noticed by Trap and us and hopefully along with Doolins U-23 side we find the players to ensure a bright future for Irish football.

Greg is his name, he made an appearance in a cup match for city, and came on against Birmimgham there last month. In fairness if Stephen Ireland, Martin Petrov and SWP are finding it hard to get a game for City you cant expect him to break into the team in his first season. I think its only natural for trap to have an interest in a young lad on the fringes of a good Man City squad. He will probably go on loan to a Championship team next year, then we will have a better idea of what he's like.

I think its unfair to be criticising the Ireland training squad. The players were picked because they are on the outskirts of the Ireland squad or are young players who have the potential to be future Ireland players. Given that criteria it is clear to see why Duffy, etc. were called into the squad.

I'm certain Coleman would be there too had he not important games coming up.

Coleman has been left out due to his involvement in the play-offs, which seems quite reasonable.

I didn't think he did anything particularly great today, other than his involvement in the first goal, but he has been immense for Blackpool for the last few months, and has shown real quality in his limited performances for Everton too (the 5-0 defeat to Benfica aside, but that was outside anyone's control).

He seems to have picked up a couple of bad habits at Blackpool, and neglected his defensive duties a few times today, almost leading to goals, which is something he wasn't doing when we first sent him there.

He will be great for Ireland and Everton in the next few years, he's a better prospect than Duffy.

He did this at Sligo as well. So its not a new problem.
