I see on tickets.ie (Type in Air Show in the search section) that Air Show 100 has been cancelled, they are saying that due to the Red Arrows cancelling their display it has been cancelled, the Red Arrows were only going to be there on the bank holiday Monday so I cant see how they can use that excuse. Anyone hear anything more on this???

Got this email yesterday from tickets.ie...
    This show has been cancelled.

On behalf of the promoter we regret to inform you that this show has been cancelled as The Red Arrows have been forced to withdraw from the event.

Refunds are available from place of purchase only. If you purchased your ticket online you will be refunded automatically. Please allow up to five working days for your bank to process the refund.

You will be issued a full refund including booking and postage fees.

I suspect the red arrows excuse is a cover up for poor interest in the event...

Perhaps there is still a free event?

Very depressing if there was no interest. It has been 10 years since the last proper airshow in this country. And they lost a shedload of money.

wish they brought back the one from the 90s that was in bal

No interest? I bet there is loads of interest. I think it can be done if the organisers tie in other things, such a fun fairs and stall shops. I don't know if any of you made it to the balloon festival in Meath last month. There was huge interest and hardly any balloons lifted off the ground.

Anyway...It just goes to show the pull that the Red Arrows have. Even if its a small airshow I hope it still happens.

Was this not the 2nd time an Airshow being organised by this group at Punchestown has been cancelled ??, also trying to blame the Red Arrows for it being called off is a very lame excuse they were only displaying on the Monday, did they expect no one to turn up on the Sunday only the Monday. They had other display teams booked according to their website, there is more to this than the Red Arrows not taking part.

I have about half an hour of that on video that I must transfer to digital. There was some truly impressive planes on show.

Air spectacular 2000 is still the best show I have been to. A really nice mix of fast jets, vintage jets and the rest. None of that premium stand ****e that you get in uk airshows. Nice and close to the runway.

from what I heard, its cancelled because of the red arrows but in an indirect way. Since the Red Arrows have cancelled, the main sponsor has withdrawn its support, so the reason its cancelled is because there is no sponsorship of the event because the red arrows have withdrawn

Even if the Red Arrows are the reason for the cancelling of the event you could not be organising an Air Show and depending on a particular team turning up, you organise the Air Show and get as many aircraft as you can and if you get the Red Arrows its a bonus but it cannot be a reason to cancel the event if they pull out, what about the other display teams that are booked, I wonder how they feel if that is the reason 2nd best.

Totally agree, one display team doesn't make a two day show, full stop. Your point about the other teams is so true, how many of them have turned down other invites to shows because they were booked there that week end? I did read some where that there were a number of objections to the show (per usual) the biggest ones coming from the horse owners around there.

There was no Airshow planned for Salthill this year, the Red Arrows were due to display at the World Power Boat Championships on bank holiday Monday at Salthill.
