Anyone ever use this website? AP2 Titliest irons retailing at £299 including free delivery. Seems very cheap and too good to be true when they retail at 700 quid a pop in most golf shops in Ireland.

    Would they be authentic?

Seriously mate, do you really need to ask?

I can't believe that there are people out there who actually believe these kinda sites could possibly be legit.

    Don't go near it.

Thanks for your reply. Sorry for being a complete green horn. Do you mean they take payment and dont deliver or deliver the goods but they are fakes?

not so sure, if the prices are too good to be true then its generally dodgy.

They are genuine. All sites selling brand new clubs at less than half retail are genuine. Buy them.

    Seriously.

    Caveat emptor;)

Just Had a good conversation with "Brenda" in their online HLEP:

Brenda: Hello, how may I help you?

Me: hello, I'm glad you can spell help, your website has it wrong!
    Me: Are your clubs genuine?

Brenda: All our clubs are OEM(original equipment manufacturer)products from Asia with good quality and perfect performace.

Me: how are they so cheap?

Brenda: Because there is no vendor between us. All our clubs are directly from factory. Small profits but quick turnover is our manage policy.

Me: I thought ping do not sell clubs online?

Brenda:our clubs are OEM products from Asia, that is the partial reason for such low price.

Me: but that doesn't explain how you have brand new ping clubs for sale?

Brenda: they are really brand new products from Asia. Can i know which clubs are you after?

Me: I am browsing for new irons, just curious about the clubs, I think they may be fake?

Brenda:Our clubs are made of the same materials, tech, quality and performace, though they are not directly from offical factory.

Me: so how can they have brand names on them? are the names not copyrighted?

Brenda: As to the copyrightedwe,we have series number, but we are not sure that they can be registered on web, cause they are mainly for Hongkong and Japan

Me: I don't understand what you mean?

Brenda: we have brand name on them

Me: Thank you, I may purchase after all, Thank you for your help

I will definitely get all of my golf gear here from now on......

    Edit: Apologies for formatting!!

So for 350 quid is it worth trying to see if these copy's are as good as the real thing?

If they turn out crap, we can flog em on e bay for same price and get our money back :)

In reality, OEM doesn't really mean anything to these guys.

OEM as "we" know it is means that the company who manufactures and distributes the club are the ones who have their trademark on the club. They sell the clubs onto approved distributors.

So if it says Ping on the club then we assume that it is a genuine Ping.

We all know that you can't buy this year's new Pings at half-price.

Before buying, email the OEM and ask them to comment. Also ask for the serial number of the clubs and check with the OEM.

These clubs are fake and NO do not buy them and then try to offload them onto Ebay!

Just looked at the site's tips for getting out of a bunker.....

"Swing your Callaway FT-iQ Driver aggressively through the sand and be confident in hitting the ball. Make sure you hit the sand a few inches behind the ball rather then hitting the ball directly".

Now call me useless but try as hard as I can with my Callaway FT-iQ Driver but when I hit the sand before the ball all I did was move the ball three inches and broke the shaft........what am I doing wrong?

Was it a 9.5? You might need the 10.5.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,472 ✭✭✭stockdam

Ok I'll buy the 10.5 from Discountgolf100.com as they sell genuine OEM clubs and not fakes that break easily when you hit the sand before the ball.

    Hi Guys,

Intersting thread. I bought a set of TaylorMade 2009 R7 CGB Max Irons 4-9PAS off this site last week:
    http://www.mygolfpurchase.com/

They arrived yesterday and appear to be the genuine article.
If they are OEM its impossibe to tell the difference from the originals.
They came with all the branding, packaging you would expect to see with the originals.

Just looking at the site again its looks very similar to the discountgolf website.......

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8 Rodgeen

Oh yea the other thingwas there was a 40 euro customs fee that i had to pay on top of it.

Probably forged from old bean tins!

Here's a tip.Don't buy anything from a website based anywhere east of Berlin.;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 553 ✭✭✭morrga

This confirms it. I sent an email to a customer support branch of titliest.

    Dear Gavin,

Thank you for contacting Acushnet Company. Please be advised that the below website is not an authorized account of Acushnet, and is most likely selling counterfeit golf equipment.

We recommend that you purchase Acushnet product through an authorized account. A list of accounts can be found at the below link.

Thank you for your support of our products.

These fakes will look similar or in some cases identical. They may even use the same material and could be an exact copy......the OEMs use foundries in Taiwan etc. and these then possibly "leak" the details.

However if you buy them then don't complain if they are crap.

Oh and don't flog them onto some other unsuspecting person.

If you want cheap clubs then buy MDGolf etc.
Why would you want to buy a fake? If you want to "pretend" that you play with a top brand then what does that say about you?

Maybe you should have tried this........

    Shirley 17:34:47
Hello, how may I help you?

    Me 17:35:00
I'm interested in your TaylorMade 2009 R7 CGB irons

    Me 17:35:30
    Are these real Taylormade irons?

    Shirley 17:35:50
    our clubs are OEM products

    Me 17:36:07
So they were made by Taylormade?

    Shirley 17:38:05
OEM means Original Equipment manufacturer clubs, they are made of the same materials, tech, quality and performance, though they are not directly from official factory.

    Me 17:38:23
So they are NOT OEM then

    Me 17:38:39
OEM means they were made by Taylormade

    Me 17:39:47
So why are you selling fake clubs and pretending that they are Taylormade?

Tum-tee-tum.........no reply after 10 minutes. I think it's "case dismissed".

Note that Shirley said that they are OEM but then said that they are "similar" but not from the original factory. In other words they are FAKE.

I'd advise everyone who is buying from these sites to contact them and ask very direct questions. They will say that they are OEM clubs but that just means they are based on OEM clubs.

  • Subscribers Posts: 4,419 ✭✭✭PhilipMarlowe

I wouldn't advise anyone to bother contacting them at all...

If you want branded clubs, buy them through the usual channels.
If you want cheaper branded clubs, buy previous years models in a discount sale.
If you want good cheap clubs, buy from a good value manufacturer like MD Golf.
If you want cheap clubs, buy 2nd hand from your local pro shop or adverts.ie.

If you wanted a Rolex, you'd pay rolex money for one. If you wanted a watch for €50, you'd be much better buying a genuine 50 buck watch than a fake made from a tin of beans and bits of mechano. Same thoughts apply to fake clubs IMO.
