I need help writing the speech for my father when he has to talk at my sisters wedding. He is by nature a nervous person so I will need to keep it short and brief but not too brief. What are the mandatory things that has to be said????? So far I have come up with the following:

    1) Thank everyone for coming
    2) Thank the Grooms parents and their family
    3) Thank the Brides mother for all her help
    4) Mention the Groom (first time he came to the house or something)
    5) Talk about his gorgeous daughter and the joy she has brought him
    6) Mention the bridesmaids
    7) Toast the bride and groom

Am I leaving anyone out there, shoud I mention all of them??? I know the groom will be mentioning some of these as well but I have been told that the father of the bride shoud do so also.

I would love to hear any suggestions, advice or comments.

    Cheers!!!

My future father in law gave a speech at his daughters wedding and he was really nervous. He turned slightly and gave his whole speech- which was short & really touching- to his wife. She just sat and gave him loads of encouragement by nodding and saying yeah, thats right etc.. it was really lovely to see as everyone in the place knew he was nervous- might be something your dad could do?
