Hey, just after buying clio III model and only came with one key. Rang up dealer for replacement and wanted €180 which is a rip. I was on ebay and can buy a used key for few euro, just wondering if its technically possible to reprogram the fob to my car? Anyone advice would be much appreciated.

    Cheers,:D

same question but related to a rover. Is there any garages that can do that for rover key fobs?

A good locksmith should be able to help you out. It'd be cheaper than main dealer.

I've got a similar problem with my Ford Puma.
It only came with one chipped key and two T bar spares.
It says you need two chipped keys to program the fob key so that you can start the car with it along with just opening and closing the doors...

Usually (but Renault may be different), you can program a new key once you still have one key programmed.

There is usally a sequence of steps (crasy sequence of opening doors, switch on and off) with the new key and old key...

Here is the sequence for a clio II, a bit more googling needed for clio III

Make sure they key you buy on ebay or whereever is exactly right for your car otherwise

(BearInMind :you may break yourself, your car or your key while doing this....)

it could do, they could be different frequencies, id buy a key with the same part number (part no will be on the board inside the key if you open it up ) and look up re-coding instructions online or in your owners manual, some keys can be re coded by you without giving garage 50 euro or so

That's for programming the remote central locking, not coding the key to the immobiliser.

A main dealer or an auto locksmith is required to code keys to the immobiliser. Price both. The last time I did the main dealer was cheaper.
