Basically, once you drop them at the airport, follow the road out and go to the second main roundabout (first leads into the industrial estate). At the second roundabout, take second exit (follow signs for shannon aerospace). Once you see the aerospace hangar which is impossible to miss, take the left just before it as if you were going in there, but then go immediatly left again and this will bring you to one good spot.

Second spot, Instead of taking the left to turn into aerospace, continue straight on up that road until you reach a T junction. Take a left. Follow the road (you should pass a pub) and keep going as far as you can (it gets quite narrow and windy). This will bring you to the other end of the runway!!

    OP, Try these maybe?

    1. Normal Spotting area.

Drive out of Airport as normal and follow this map, print if necessary:

Thats pretty much where everybody goes,

    2. Another area, never been here myself but drive out of spotting area and go left down to the end of the road and left again:

    3. Airport view? Im not 100% sure about here as i think some crusties got kicked from this area before, it's near enough to the Control tower and Golf course, im not sure about pics from this area:

Hope this helps. The likes of Neon Circles can help more about these areas.

I wouldnt go down by the control tower, and the second location I'd be pretty wary of.... The shannon aerospace one is the only one I'd recommend.

Coming out of airport, go straight thru mini roundabout, and next roundabout after that. Then take 1st exit on the following roundabout (towards the halting site), then theres ANOTHER roundabout, second exit again (sign for Shannon Aerospace), 1 mile down that road, left as if you were going into Shannon aerospace but a road leads off down to the left, down there.

If you go to the Shannon Aerospace spot you wont get any hassle most likely

at the moment the wind favours landing up the estuary-from the West onto RWY06.

You wont get any hassle if you go to the far end of the runway the 06 end. I have been there loads of times and never had a problem with Airport police or security. I just wish they would allow us to be nearer the 24 end where you can get great pictures of approaching aircraft, at present you cant see the plane coming until the last minute due to trees there.

FWIW, aren't the locations in pics 1 and 2 the same or within a few metres of one another?

Just interested as the foundations of my ancestoral folks' house is under the end of 24, about 150 metres from the end!! They sold the original airport site to the Gov in the '30s and the extensions in the '60s.
