The other day I was just talking to my friends (all girls) and I ended up telling them that I play playstation 3 and COD and stuff and they burst out laughing and called me a freak:(. So I was just wondering if you guys think its weird too:).

Not weird at all! I have a good friend who happens to be a 28yo woman. She has Ps3,xbox360 and wii and is constantly playing....

My sister is 17 and loves playing games. She's played through MW2 too so it's not just you :P

Also likes Final Fantasy, Oblivion and driving games.

It's only unusual in Ireland. Here in Japan, you're as likely to see a middle-aged businesswoman playing with her DS/PSP (or reading manga) on the train as a teenage boy.

there aint enough of us girl gamers, dont mind those who laugh they just havent a clue lol. i can safely say my ps3 was without doubt my best investment to date, i love it and wouldn't be without it. its great to be unique (as far as girls go) so embrace ur gamin godess with in:D:D

A friend of mine who is a girl once told me she loved playing Tomb Raider and I thought that was weird. It's definitely a sex thing. But ever since talking to her I realised girls can love games too and this was before even the DS took off.

It's strange, a guy who doesn't have a console I always thought was weird too.

Girls playing PS3 is great. It's good to see some playing games like COD or BF2 as well, and not just the wimpy games.

But not my PS3 - I want to play it... If wife/gf wanted to play it all the time there would be a lot of issues - probably not good for a long term relationship

There seems to be a taboo girls have about playing games in the west. It's a shame because I know that girls can be just as into games if they give them a chance. I'm pretty sure in a few years time there will be a lot more playing games since the generation growing up is growing up with the DS.

I wouldnt mind but my girlfriend is good at games she helped me out with beating resident evil 5 on its hardest difficulty,( granted she had unlimited rockets for the launcher, she did me proud.) She also cleared all the day challenges on eye pet, getting the gold medal on all of em (Which would have driven me insane). And she was mad into the heavy rain demo.

My partner plays too - and she's way better than me at Tekken6 - probably because I am getting distracted by the tasty looking girls she's picking as her fighter.

My GF only plays buzz, she flippin loves it, and shes crazy good at it.
It would be strange if she was into gaming as much as I am, but in a cool way.

I seen a business woman on the bus one day playing an original GB and I sat beside her and watched her playing mario the whole way into town

I don't think it's strange at all! I have a good friend and she plays the PS3 all the time and she's really good! In fact I still have a lot of her games right now - don't tell!;)

My OH has a ds and plays that every night, albeit Professor Layton.

Ive gotten her into Modern Warfare 2 at the moment on my PS3, she was crap at the start as the woman has no sense of direction, but shes flying it now. In fact im ashamed to say shes picked me off a few times in multiplayer..

There are a few girl gamers about....I'm in the later part of my 30's with 2 kids and play mw/mw2/bioshock and bioshock 2, we had to get a 2nd ps3 cos the OH couldn't get on for a game!

This drives me mad about Irish girls, really. They're still stuck in the mindframe of 'girls are supposed to do X, guys are supposed to do Y'. Interestingly enough I haven't met many guys like this.
But anyway no, you're not weird. Loads of girls like and play video games. The fact that you're female shouldn't decide whether or not you should be playing COD. Just do what you want to do

Most guys I meet are surprised and impressed. I have sold and purchased PC parts & games and console games on adverts, and most are surprised when a girl shows up. It's always a nice surprise though.

My OH plays the ps3 sometimes. I got the Sega Classics game, and she's mad into it, she used to play all those games when she was younger on the Megadrive.

She also likes watching me play, only some games though. She helped me finish Resident Evil 4, shouting out, "there' guys behind you!!! over there!!! kill them!!!!!!" :pac:
And she helps with puzzles too, like in Tomb Raider

not surprising that everyone here would be into it because everyone wishes their girlfriend was exactly the same as the OP

I posted something similar in another thread but it's probably because games haven't really been accepted into the mainstream but girls like the OP are the pioneers who are helping to change this and helping video games be recognised as the new entertainment platform

Just to point out, games companies in the beginning recognised that it was mostly women who used computers, and had to put in huge amounts of effort into marketing drives to try and get boys interested in gaming.

This was due to women mostly being office workers / administrators / secretaries, and men being... manly and doing more physical labour.

Of course over the years this all changed about face, and now games companies are trying to target women again (usually badly ) so I'm guessing in another 20 years it'll be 'Computer games? Pfft, they're for women!'

I'm so close to getting a platinum on Assassins Creed 2 (The damn feathers!!!:mad:) and Heavy Rain ( Need to get all endings) but not really bothered tbh:D!!!

did you get this yet? I just got my plat last nite, i was dreading the combat trophies (no hitter and sweeper) and had been avoiding them as usual but got lucky last night and cleared them both first try.

For the last couple of feathers i was missing i narrowed down the location using the DNA counter thing and got a good maps off this site http://mycheats.1up.com/view/section/3170852/28010/assassin_s_creed_2/xbox_360 it says its for the 360 but it dont matter cos the game is the same

My friends burst out laughing when I told them I finished all parts of God of War, Uncharted and Red Dead Redemption.

It's fascinating how predjudice some people are about girls and consoles. It's a nice pass time for rainy days anyway.
