Starting this thread so people can chat away about cars/modifications/performance etc without dragging other topics on the forum off topic.

Feel free to chat away about things like:

    car's
    mods
    dyno days/figure's
    track days
    trips to the nurburgring
    what you seen today
    what mods you like/dislike
    motor shows

    etc...

The following topics will incur a fraction and a possible ban though:

    public racing
    cruises
    any law breaking
I bet x off the line today
    I raced x today and...
My car is faster than yours
    advertising/selling

    etc...

    The same forum rules apply.

So get chatting, keep it clean and no nonsense.

To get it started, is anyone going to the ALMC show this weekend?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,520 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

No, would love to go, but already made plans. there was a lot of lovely metal there last year. I think a lot of the lads on Octane bring their cars there. Even if the person you may be bringing isn't into cars there is such a variety of motors there that even the most anti-car person will see something they fall in love with.

On a seperate note, I broke one of the rules of modifying and did some on an Avensis.

I washed the 996 earlier on today and then started her up and let her run and idle for a bit.

I somehow managed to annoy my neighbour though.

Quote "Jesus, the noise of that thing is gonna give me a heart attack one of these days, buts its a lovely bike mind you" End Quote.

Pics in the main motors thread, I might wait until I get a few more arty photos before posting it up here :D

As for all the way round, I'm seriously busy with work (I didn't think I'd have a job when we set out the plans for awtr) so any help from anyone would be grwatly appreciated.

Don't you hate when people shorten BHP down to just brake? like when some one says "What brake is she" its nearly always people who use the word 'lad'...

    "What brake is she lad?"

    Gets on my nerves :D

How does one go about learning track day racing etc?

I've no idea about how to drive on a track and I'd love to try it some day. Is it very expensive?

Hey, depends on the car you want to drive on the track. A good site to compare the car prices are http://www.trackdays.co.uk/driving_experience/rally_driving/ . The only thing is the expense will run up if you are staying the night and how you travel to England.
Sorry but no other real advise but someone might have had some track expreince if not ask the guys at http://www.555club.com/ as they are organizing a track day. (unsure if allowed reference other forums:confused:)

This could be in another tread here but http://www.carsforsaleireland.ie/used-cars/detail/2000-Ford-Focus-Mayo-Modified+car-Petrol-Manual-138883/. or http://www.carsforsaleireland.ie/used-cars/detail/1999-Toyota-Glanza-Mayo-Modified+car-Unleaded+Petrol-Manual-52810/
Really dislike cars with horrible paint jobs. Saw another car with a naked woman on the beach, driving around town.

Yes those cars belong there but no-one so far has said their dislike of mods, also hate over the top spoliers. Lovely ones here http://www.monkeyreview.co.uk/2009/06/19/spoilers-make-your-car-faster/.
There is also http://www.rallyconnection.com/rallyschool.shtml and Mondello. Unless you bring your own car on the track to Mondello it seems very expensive. The rallyconnection is also very dear in my eyes compared to the car you car drive in England.
If you want to drive your own car unsure of the price Mondello charge may be worth it.
