Was a guest at a wedding there last summer. Very nice hotel, great food and the function room is deadly. Only downer was the price of the room (e175 on a sunday night ) but there are chalets available for larger groups. First wedding I ever stayed up till breakfast :p

Its a great location and very picturesque for sure. Staff are very friendly, food is good too and the reception area is pretty big so it can take a lot of people.

Only downside (speaking from a photography point of view) is the lack of gardens to take pictures in. If the weather is nice you can use the front entrance which is grassed.

    Elius,

My fiance and I are getting married in the Mulranny in July. I can't recommend the place highly enough. In relation to photographs, there are plenty of places nearby such as the beach at the front of the hotel. PM me if you've any questions.

I would agree with the other poster, rooms for guests can be expensive. Having said that, there are 5 B&Bs nearby, and Mulranny in general has plenty of holiday homes.

    Conor.

Was there a couple of years ago, lovely part of the world, fantastic hotel with great service in my experience.

In terms of photgraphy - The hotel itself is limited but in general there is some fantastic scnenery and locations within a stones throw.

Personally I think the "Hotel shots" are usually pretty bland anyway and would recommend scouting for some unusual and more memorable locations if time allows.(No offence intended to anyone who likes the stock garden shot:eek:)

The best place for beach shots is through the golf club - get your photographer to take you there as it is much much better access, easier to walk to and from (especially the gals in their heels) and makes for great shots too

    Hi Guys,

I'm thinking of having my wedding reception in this hotel. I am reasonably impressed with it from what I've seen so far, however I really can't get over the price of the rooms for guests. In the current economic climate I feel that €170+ per room per night is exorbitant.

Also, I feel that their menu is slightly over priced by comparison to some similar quaility hotels.

I'm getting the feeling they're pricing themselves out of the market and it's putting me off! If they can't improve their prices I'll be going elsewhere....

we got married there during the summer of this year and had a fantastic time

yes the rooms are expensive, but ours were fully booked up within a week of the invites going out. the chalets were about 275 I think and could sleep 5 so worked out at 55 pp per night, and there are plenty of B&Bs and holiday cottages that you could stay in as an alternative

we had a smashing day, the guests raved about the venue - the function room on a summers day was spectaculour, the service was outstanding and I can't recommend them highly enough to deal with... make sure you haggle with them for a few extras like some free rooms, chair sashes, bar extension etc if you can, but otherwise, I have to warn you that they book up pretty quickly for the summer season as it's a very popular venue so if you are looking for a Saturday in July/August, you may be unlucky.

for the quality of service, food and venue, they were worth every penny.
if you think they are expensive, you should try the Knockranny
