    They've really gone downhill.

Ordered something on the 24th March and they are still awaiting stock. Last order I placed with them I had to cancel as I was waiting over 2 months for them to get the stock!

Is it just me? Or are other people going elsewhere now?

Have to honestly say I've never had any problems with play.com over the years

Can't say I've had any issues with them over the years with Play and I have bought a LOT of stuff from them.

I'd have said the same thing at the start of the year :(

Moved to Online Buying & Auctions

I personally gave up on Play a good while back when they started to force us to purchase in Euros (at an inflated exchange rate).

Amazon tends to be better value and now you can qualify for free shipping also

+1 on that. If you are buying a couple of DVDs or CDs its very easy to reach the £25 you need to get free shopping from amazon.

    Same here.

Add to that the VAT you may have to pay on receiving (since Play ship from Jersey), Amazon becomes even more appealing.

Don't like using play myself anymore ,amazon are more reliable and have more choice.

How can you qualify for free shipping?

There's a minimum spend, think it's £15, then you get free super saver delivery to Ireland.

it is £25. Irish VAT will be charged so if you get stuff that was listed as say £24.50 it could go over £25 when the VAT is applied.

I'm currently awaiting on my Red Dead Redemption Lim. Edition which has been 'awaiting stock' the last few days. Anyone have any idea on how long this will last?

    Cheers

The other advantage to amazon.co.uk is that they always ship from within the EU when delivering to an Irish address. So there's never an issue with import duties. I don't believe that other suppliers are so careful.

I order two games; Alan Wake (dispatched 12th May) Red Dead R (dispatched 19th May). I'm still waiting on both. I can't enquire in Play until the 2nd June (3 weeks since the 12th May). But what to people think could be going on with these? Could they be stuck in customs? Would it be worthwhile contacting my local post office?

Play ship their stock from outside the EU so it's probably in customs, they are very slow lately with everything. That why I stopped using Play, they don't use the correct exchange rate and run the risk with customs. Better off with Amazon imo.

Without a tracking number, that'll be a waste of time. If customs have them, you'll simply have to wait.

After having used play.com extensively in previous years, I now would stay well clear. Their delivery times suck big time, especially for time sensitive items. Trying to contact them is a nightmare too, all in all avoid at all cost.
