Did anyone ever hear of this? I've never heard of it but i think its classic!!

    Its called "Extreme Facedown".

Basically the rules are you have to lie face down somewhere and just take a photo! Sounds basic but its gas!

    heres a link:
    Extreme Facedown Ireland

The randomer the place, it seems, the better. Dunno if its taken off in any other countries than Ireland, but its obviously a result of the recession with a lot of people with a lot of free time!!:pac:

I'm seriously considering doing it here in work! Create the first Aussie facedown!
Might try it up on Eureka Tower hanging out that glass box!

"Basically the rules are u have to lie face down somewhere and just take a photo!"

    vs.

"Geocaching is an outdoor activity in which the participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers (called "geocaches" or "caches") anywhere in the world. A typical cache is a small waterproof container (usually a tupperware container or ammo box) containing a logbook. Larger containers can also contain items for trading, usually toys or trinkets of little value. Geocaching is most often described as a "game of high-tech hide and seek," sharing many aspects with benchmarking, trigpointing, orienteering, treasure-hunting, Letterboxing, and waymarking."

    ...Indeed.

(Though the site's not working for me so I'm probably missing something you're referencing that's about to make me look like a twat.)

Geocaching is really about filling a small box with a secret treasure and then posting a treasure map so that other strangers throughout the world can seek the treasure. I knew a guy who did it, he went miles into the woods to find some box with twigs or something in it and thought it was great. Yeah it's a total nerdlinger thing alright :p

I've heard stories of not-so-pleasant treasures beng left in those boxes!

    I dont believe in "fads".

I aspire to be a piss soaked loony living in a shack in the forest, chewing tobacco, playing the banjo and nursing a blunderbuss.

A bit of harmless fun. Better than a lot of Internet fads that have come and gone.

A new fad eh? So no doubt there'll be a forum for it on here within a few weeks. Boardsies love fads - just look at Hasselhoff, Chuck Norris, Zombies, Binary, etc. All fads for the sheep of Boards to clamour over until something new comes along.

    This isn't new.

Oscar Wilde pioneered this sport back when he invented "astronomy for gutter dwellers".

I think it's quite funny. If every Japanese person ever has a photo of themselves making a peace sign and smiling like a manga cartoon, they'll be confused as hell at the Irish person lying face down beside them in front of every tourist site in the world.

As for the forum thing, it could be a fun sub forum in cool vids, pics & links.

Fcuk me some of ye are narky auld so and so's......:D

'Tis only a laugh and a good one at that!!!
Be a great idea like previous poster mentioned to place it in a forum here where boardsies could upload their photos

Some locations where such performances have taken place include a mountainside of a difficult climb; a forest; in a canoe; while skiing or snowboarding; on top of large bronze statues; in the middle of a street; underwater; whilst parachuting;[2] and under the ice cover of a lake. The performances have been conducted solo or by groups.

    What is the point!

And surely that's very dangerous. Death by flying ironing board!

I can't wait until this becomes a professional sport.

I train about 5-7 hours a night for it.

It's good to see that the begrudgery and cynicism of some boardsies is grown beyond a fad and has instilled itself as a lifetime tradition.

Lighten up man, maybe if you spent less time trying to become overlord of the trees you may realise that life is no fun if you don't stop and enjoy some of the entertaining "fads" that come our way once in a while.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,028 ✭✭✭✭--LOS--

ugh it started off funny but then the facebook ones were an exercise in boredom, here's me lying down on the grass, like normal.

Like most things in life this seems to have already become passé before I've even heard of it.

Yeah, coz Chuck Norris facts are hilaaaarious - I should forward them to all my friends because they're so "epic" loike.
And OMG - Zombies totally rock like - they're total ledges! We need a forum so we can talk about how much they totally rock.
And talking in Binary, or posting it in your sig, is so totally random! That's why it's funny!

Yeah - I feel I'm really missing out on all the "fun" of the kooky fads. My life is empty without them. I am boring. Because I criticised them, it's only logical to deduce that I never have any fun & I'm really dry. I need to "chillax loike" and go with the flow... I should just hop on the latest bandwagon, or else people might think I'm "uptight" & "begrudging".
