I know this question has been asked before but I couldn't get the exact answer I need.
I'm traveling with my family next week to Faro (ex Cork).
We will have an 8 month old baby with us.

Someone told me I won't be able to do the online check-in due to the baby being with us, is this true?
Do I need to contact Aer Lingus in relation to traveling with babies? I've been trying to ring them all morning but it's not even getting through, just cutting out.
    Thanks in advance folks.

i'd say you can check in online, but you'll still need to check in at the airport as they will hand you a special boarding pass for the baby as he has no seat.

The first time I flew with a baby last year I was dreading it, our daughter was only 4 months old. We flew with AerLingus and to be honest they made the whole journey as easy a possible.

We didn't have to queue at security, did have to take a sip of baby's milk mind you. We were boarded first, got off last and at every step of the way the aerlingus staff were a pleasure to deal with.

Another thing I was expecting was for other passangers want to move from where we were as there was spare seats ... quite the opposite, the baby got plenty of attention and other passangers and flying staff helped keep her occupied for the whole flight !!

glad you had a good experience. can you remember if you were able to check in online or what was the procedure?

I think we checked in at the desk, can't really remember, but because of CarSeat, Travel System etc ... we had a lot of luggage so had to go up to the desk regardless.

aerlingus flat out due to all the cancelled flights cos of the volcano ash.
Flying with a 5 month baby this evening after 3 rebookings due to the poxy volcano.

No problems anyways with the child and no need to ring in advance, although when booking you should have specified that a child is travelling with you and paid a couple of euro flatrate charge for her.
Its probably to cover the effort and labour incurred in transport of buggies and that, but even if you dont bring a blasted buggy you pay it.

Anyhow, indeed just check in in person as normal and you'll be grand.

Not sure how it works with online checkin and buggy tags, but nevertheless you are better go in person as they might be nice and "block" the seat beside you if the flight isnt full so you'll have more place to prepare to feed her etc.
Or if you arent alone and traveling with husband, then they will block the middle of 3 seats so it remains free.

Note, this blocking of a seat lark isnt official policy so a grumpy non aerlingus ticket desk person (agency staff abroad) may refuse to do it and no matter what if the plane is full to the brim you wont have a spare seat unless you actually buy a full fare seat.

You can't check I online, however you can call the reservation line and they'll prebook your seats for you (charge applies). If you decide not to do that then wait until you get to the airport to check in and ask for seats in rows 1 to 6 as there is more legroom in these rows affording you a little more comfort for the flight. To date the flights I've taken on Aer Lingus with my baby have been great. Take any assistance offered, the cabin crew are really helpful to parents with infants.
