I can't wait for this. Ever since I saw the fake trailer at the the start of Planet Terror (I think) I wanted it to be made in to a film.

    Great cast.

    Danny Trejo.. he's a Mexi-CAN, not a Mexi-CAN'T!!! :D

So ironic it hurts - literally. Not my thing at all I'm afraid, and another nail in De Niro's coffin. Come on, some of you must have been a little embarrassed for him in that trailer?

Judging by some of the crap he's done recently.. it's a step-up!

I'm Very excited about this movie...

Also for me, it's not exactly irony. I kind of like this kind of thing, sure it's a guilty pleasure but my enjoyment of it isn't ironic. I think schlock done well is great, I don't watch it with a raised eyebrow and congratulate myself on my finely tuned sense of irony, I just have fun watching it...

Here's an interview with the awesome Danny Trejo.

    Can't see a resemblance!

It's Shea Whigham who you may reccognise from The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call - New Orleans, Wristcutters: A Love Story, Pride and Glory or the superb creature feature Splinter. He's one of those great actors who few people rarely recognise yet can carry an entire film on his own.

loved the original mock up trailer and this gets 2 machetes up from me :)

Here is a re-up on the trailer since original was removed. My god, this is Awesome!!!!! What a cast indeed. Feckin Seagal and Cheech FTW!! When is this out?

    Ahhhhh.. you should have clarified!

If you said Michael J Fox from a 25 year old movie poster in animated form... I'd have said..

.. "no, it still doesn't look him!" ;)

I think he looks more like Steve Zahn.

I can certainly see more of a resemblance to Steve Zahn alright..

.. this is veering wildly off-topic though!

Woo Jeff Fahey! I'm a fan of his since he became the token bad-ass one liner dispenser in Lost (Lost
and hoping he's not dead after the superb The Candidate, although it looks grim for Lapidus
) Let's just hope the film doesn't lay on the grindhouse feel too hard - it is tricky to achieve the cheesy on purpose vibe effectively. Planet Terror was solid though, so hopefully they'll pull it off!

At least it is something different than the tripe that is usually released these days.

    Introducing Don Johnson... :D....Love it.

A film with Don Johnson, Steven Seagal and Cheech Marin?
It's got tacky written all over it, but I'd say it will probably be class.

It's hard to tell, but looking at the casts I would probably say Machete.
While the actors in The Expendables can be quite over the top and cheesy (Rourke, Stallone),
it's doesn't compete with the cheesiness of Seagal and Johnson.
Even De Niro looks cheesy in that trailer.

machete is supposed to be as cheesy as possible though

    It's causing some uproar!
Director Robert Rodriguez’ new film ‘Machete‘ has created controversy after a promotional trailer released online makes provoking comments about Arizona– namely its new immigration laws– before depicting a machete-wielding vigilante who leads an uprising and massacre against Texas authorities. The filmmakers called it a ’special’ Cinco de Mayo message to Arizona, inviting viewers into a violent on-screen race war with red-saturated 70s exploitation violence and endless killing. While some critics have praised this “message to Arizona” as being “most eloquent” on the immigration issue, others have become concerned about the message truly sent by a bloody and racially-charged film.

Alex Jones explains how the unsettling film, currently in production here in Austin, Texas, had upset two of its crew members, both of whom happened to be hispanic, enough to contact him about its fiery message. Though they could not give details due to their contractual agreements, the industry insiders were concerned that the film had gone too far, voicing their fears that it could cause a cultural backlash and do harm to the otherwise positive image of the hispanic community.

Racial strife is often exacerbated unnecessarily by globalists forces who, though seeking to integrate North America regionally, divide & conquer the population by playing upon ethnic tensions. For a violent film to use such a backdrop to glorify and potentially incite violent attacks on white Americans over the immigration issue is very dangerous, and Alex urges the film’s director to carefully consider the impact such an extreme statement could have. Though the movie screen is an escapist dimension where sex & violence are commonplace, ‘Machete‘ ties it into a racially motivated issue spurned by anti-illegal immigration rhetoric– and that may be taking things a bit too far.

TBH I'd be glad if she wasn't in the film at all. Hasn't doen anything good since Mean Girls.

from what i gather it's going to be a short role that she has....something to do with Machette getting ALL the girls.

Alex Jones has his panties in a twist!!
Alex Jones: Robert Rodriguez is a liar - when a script for Machete was leaked back in May, I pointed out that the film contained numerous elements that were highly offensive and could easily kick-start a race war. Rodriguez claimed that these scenes had been edited or removed for the final version. They were not – every part of the original script remains in the film almost word for word.

It may have, but thankfully Seagal now has his own gravitation pull which will keep us safe.

IGN had a glowing review of it -- if you're into the specific type of grindhouse comedy/action/gore it serves up. It looks pretty great...

......of course 'angry stuck-up latina grunt' Michelle Rodriguez has to spoil the party (for me)
