Crossword prize not awarded

I recently (about 2 months ago) won €100 in the Sunday World crossword, but have never received my prize despite emailing them. Is this a common occurrence where a newspaper offers an incentive to buy the newspaper and do the crossword, yet has no notion of ever awarding the prize. Is there anyone who can offer advice re contact details etc for the newspaper, please, or what my chances of getting my "lolly" are?

how about writing to ben dunnes column in the irish sun? unless both papers are owned by the same company i'm sure he'd like to rant about another paper

I am not really familiar with that column. I tried to get phone contact details for the newspaper, without success. Then got email address and sent email over a week ago. Never even got a response. I am vexed as the Sunday World used to offer more than 1 prize, then got greedy and offered just one winner. If that wasn't bad enough, it would be nice if they had the decency to at least pay up!! €100 would be very nice........

Ring up the new crime correspondents and tell them you have a story about a crime. They'll ring you back - and report it to them.....

At the speed justice gets done in this country, not sure I can waitmad.gif. Miserable gits. €100 would keep me in pens and tippex for a while, (esssential when I am let loose on crossword).

The main switchboard is (0)1 8848900, at least you'll speak to someone.

I'd recommend you set up a twitter account if you don't have one and start twittering them here: http://twitter.com/sundayworld

Good luck and keep at it!!!

I've been fortunate enough to win that crossword on a couple of occasions. Never had a problem getting the €100 from them.

Update - cheque was sent out, but cashed by someone else in the local town credit union (where I don't have an account). To be fair, someone got the benefit of a nice €100 not intended for them, and did me out of a nice prize!

Not the paper's fault, blame the post system??? But I do find it amazing that a (crossed) cheque in my name could be cashed easily in this way. Could I have an alter ego somewhere cashing in on my identity????? frown.gif
