New CV boot -> squeal while turning?

I recently had a CV boot replaced on my car. Not long after I've noticed a particular sound while driving. It could be described as a low rattling sound(something like a coin sliding around the bottom of an can). It has made this sound before but not frequently and I hadn't noticed it in a while. Now it is ALWAYS making that sound. The sound becomes more rapid as I increase speed. I always notice it when driving on the motorway but it can come and go but it usually persists for most of the trip. Now even more recently
I'm hearing a loud squeal (Same sound made by some buses during braking but this isn't related to the brakes) when making tight right turns coming from the same side of the car as the new CV boot.

I asked the mechanic if this could indicate a suspension problem but he seemed unconcerned since the car's suspension was just tested during its NCT.

I am still worried that it could indicate a serious problem with the CV joint. Is this something I should be concerned about?

A dodgy CVJ usually makes a regular clicking sound. But it could possibly be related to the power steering.

It would help to know the make/model/year of your chariot.

It's a 97 VW Polo. It does not have power steering. Would it be fair to assume the mechanic would've checked the CV joint when replacing the CV boot (The boot had burst so I assumed he would've made sure that the joint hadn't been damaged).
