Question about jobseekers

HEY,
Im just wondering
my family started a 'family run business'
and i (19) have bin working there since i left school last sepember helping out doing wat i can etc etc.
I havint been getting wages per say ......i suppose i havint been getting a fixed amount every week.......and i havint bin down on anybooks as being imployed

the problim is i want to sign on jobseekers so i can get my name down as being ''unimployed''just for them to have a record of some sort.
Im just wondering would i run my family,dad,or the company into trouble by signing on so late ?

If you're working or helping out that means your employed so how can you not be unemployed?

As far as I know, if that's the case, as far as social welfare are concerned you just disappeared off the globe. They're going to want to know where you were, and why you never signed on sooner.


To be honest, I'd probably prepare for a bollocking off them.

im not after the money you get on J.S i just want be put down on record as being unemployed

Why?

What you are doing is fraud, there's no other way of saying it.

You are getting paid and you want to be on social welfare. They are not going to put you down as unemployed and not give you welfare. Be honest with them, if you only get 50 a week then they will take that into account and you will be assessed. You might get 50 from social welfare. If you commit fraud, you will be caught out in the long run either way, and that's nasty.

Well obviously they're not going to jump over the counter and start strangling you, but I'd be prepared for 20 questions, a lot of hymming and hawwing, a potential thorough means-test, etc.


On the other hand, if you're just honest with them, then there shouldn't be an issue. Unless of course your 'family business' is not an actual business (ie; your family are signing on and working without welfare knowing). Then the lot of you are in deep trouble.

how can you be unemployed if your getting 50 euro a week ?

If you are working a 3 day week you might be entitled to something, i'd check it out but would tell the truth too
