ESB host annual 5km Beach Race on Sandymount Strand.

The ESB will host their annual 5km Beach race on Tuesday the 11th May at 7:30pm. The race will be held on the dry sands of Sandymount beach and promises to be challenging and fun.

We welcome all runners, fast and slow, beginners to elite. The emphasis is on running for your company, whilst competing against people of your own ability.

The Eamon Gilbert Perpetual Cup & Stephen Kennefick Perpetual Trophy will be presented and individual prizes for the first three ladies and first three men. Also, there are prizes for the first two in each of the age categories, both for ladies and men. All members are eligible for team prizes in the A,B,C,D and ladies sections.

The race will be followed by showers and refreshments in the nearby Clanna Gael GAA club adjacent to the beach. Parking is available at the GAA grounds. The results will be ready on the day and prizes will be awarded to all of the categories mentioned above.

The results, photos of the action and a video will be available from Sunday on www.bhaa.ie.

Full details of the race can be found on the website where you can also ask any questions on the forum. All BHAA Facebook and Twitter members will receive details in advance of the race, and the usual text message will go to your phone. If you have not already joined up with any of these, please do so. It’s a great way to keep in touch.

I'll be there, looking forward to it.

At a bit of a loose end though for a team. I put my name down as available for a team at the RTE race, but not sure if another team can be set up in time.
