Dublin to Belfast Train Questions

I have two questions as I've never travelled on this train before.

    1) It allows you to book your seats online but when I get there will I actually have a dedicated seat or do people just run onto the train and sit where they like?

    2) If I book to return on say the 6.10 train and miss it, can I just get the next one?

    Thanks!

    1) Yes, you get a dedicated seat in carriage D. There should be a card with your booking details over the window by your seat.
I have seen this missing in Connolly. But it is always there on the Belfast Central return leg.
It sometimes doesnt stop people sitting in your seat, so you may have to ask someone to move.
2)If you miss your train you can get the next one. You wont have a dedicated seat though.

yeah it frequently happens where the train from Dublin does not bother putting up the names of reserved seats, its quite frustrating!

I have had to ask people to move lots of times when they have put the reserved cards up, most people don't mind, you do get the odd grumble though!

great prices on the trains to Belfast at the moment!

Thank you both, that's been really helpful.

Really, I can only see €36 return (I'm going this Saturday; 8th) so maybe I'm missing something?

    Tks again

    No problem.
You can get them for €10 each way sometimes.
You'll only get this on the unpopular times though, e.g. from Dublin at Midday or late trains.

Ah ok, thanks. Good to know. Unfortunately we have to go on the popular times this time!

For a while it was £10 return if you were starting from Belfast-Dublin, return Dublin-Belfast.

There is a security alert on the line from this evening. Think you might be busing it from Newry tomorrow.

They had the reservation cards up on this mornings Enterprise. It was the first service ex-Dublin though so it was probably serviced late last night or early this morning.

Security alert was short lived, all ran as normal this morning.
