Hey lads, if the car has bigger engine then on log book, can i just say it to insurance company?

Thought if i whant to change it in log book what i will need? One of things is engeeners report. Can this be done by any Garadge or specialised places? Then i would need to go to tax office and change log book?

Maybe anyone came all the way? would share experience?

It shouldn't pass NCT without the engine in the logbook. (whether it can happen or not is a different story, it just shouldn't be possible)

Also, and I'm generalising wildly here (I've passed the spanners for fellas doing this in their shed) but must cars that have had a bigger engine lumped in have been driving like they were stolen on country roads. I'd pass to be honest - if I wanted that engine-power/car combination I'd buy an original where shocks, brakes (gearbox, depending) are likely to match the performance of the more powerful engine.

well that is not an issue atm, that car is more superior then it was before, you can pass nct with different engine, nct newer ever had problems with that.

Its just i whant to have it properly sorted.

You are obliged to inform your insurer, and have the log book amended too afaik. This may have an effect on your motor tax liability, and insurance premium also.

Failure to make these declarations may make your insurance voidable, and is possibly an offence from a legal perspective.

I'd advise you get it all done and in order (with evidence in writing) before driving the car again on a public road.

Your posts are difficult to understand OP.

    To reiterate:

1/. Write to your insurer telling them full details of the engine swap.

2/. Write to your local motor tax office providing similar details and enclosing the VLC.

    Request revised documentation from both.
