    Before we go any further...
Is this for a limited time? If so, when will this offer run out?
Have ye only got a limited number of units? If so, how many?

Yere last thread decended into farce, so answerng these question should save a lot of misunderstanding.

    Hey Soarer,

I've nothing to do with the website... bought one earlier.

    Cheers

I'll take a shot at these but these are MY guesses from the last thread:
    Soarer wrote: »

Like every BA.. yes, it's for a limited time!
    Soarer wrote: »

I'm guessing when stock of the handset at a reduced price runs out!
    Soarer wrote: »

See above.. but not every company will be comfortable on revealing how many they have!

Could be 3, could be 300!

EDIT: Please DON'T use this thread as an excuse to bash Maxroam over a previous transaction.. this is not the place to air your grievances... you have been warned!

Ah sorry about that. Didn't realise that your post was a copy and paste from their website, and where it mentions "our price", I thought it was you.

    Questions still stand though! ;)

Seem to be asking those questions for no real reason - if you want the phone buy it now at that price, if you don't, then don't - problem solved.

Have to agree with this.. it's useful that Pat is on Boards but this is not a commercial interaction forum.

So don't expect regular updates from Pat on stock levels / order information etc.

Like mayordenis said.. if you want it, buy it before it's gone! If not, don't!

Just because it's an Irish company with a "presence" / representative on Boards, don't expect any more input that any other company. If they do, it's a bonus!

It's not for no real reason. If the questions are answered to the best knowledge of maxroam (or whoever), then everyone knows where they stand.

Just trying to avoid the confusion that happened in the last thread.

Obviously my concerns are unfounded, so I'll go back into my box.

Best of luck to one and all!

If they do not quote the item as colour:white then assume its rainbowed coloured. A word of warning because it has happened and maxroam edited the description after the sale.

So all phones come unlocked then? As in I can just put my meteor sim into them?

If so I am buying one!

I believe you have to download the WAP/internet settings from the relevent network at some point too if you plan on using the WAP/3G etc. I think. But it should accept your simcard. From what I've read in another thread, it does.

You can get the network to send you the settings, or enter them manually yourself, only takes a min. Some phones and sims update the settings automatically.

In most BA threads, users often detail their experiences with a seller, either positive or negative. It helps other users know whether the bargain is worth the effort (i.e. shipping time taking forever, item not as described, returns policy and so on).

For example, I have seen numerous people comment on their experiences with companies here on BA - including a lot of (negative) comments about Ebuyer. How is that any different from someone detailing their experience about maxroam, albeit positive or negative?

There is no doubt that these handset prices offered by maxroam seem to be very good, but personally I am hesitant to buy from an online website that could potentially look like a scam site so recommendations from those with experience dealing with maxroam would be highly insightful.

While we welcome this.. we welcome it as an aside to how the product is / was and how the company were to deal with.

But the last thread took an absolute nose-dive from these welcome comments into that of a consumer issue with accusations of scams and such when while they were plenty of happy customers, there were also a number of unhappy customers (not to mention people who weren't happy as missing out on the bargain). The unhappy customers became very vocal and MaxRoam had not yet had the chance to rectify any grievances before they were absolutely slated on here.

I'm not getting into this anymore on here anyways.. if you want to bring this up in Feedback, I'll happily discuss it there.

As I said above, there were plenty of happy customers both in the last thread and on Twitter.

    Pros
Cant find anywhere cheaper in this country or any other, in fact basquille said he would personally pay the difference if anyone found one cheaper

    Cons
MaxRoam not very forthcoming in naming their supplier or in bulk selling

Well I recently bought an unlocked Samsung Jet from Maxroam for only 99 euros, a lot more anywhere else, and other than the fact that the phone has a gold line around it, which wasn't mentioned in the original description, I am very happy with them. I was suspicious that it was a scam, but I was pleasantly surprised it wasn't.

i placed order on Wednesday afternoon for 199 euro (the price has gone up 60 euro dramatically in the evening), Got it delivered to me on Friday afternoon. there was no manufacture sealing sticker on the box. but everything seemed like brand new to me in box, try to pm their representative about the offer, but never heard anything back from him, apart from this,i am very happy with the price and phone.:D

but i have to say, if you go on to meteor website, the handset cost 99 euro, 12 month contract cost 25*12=300 euro, and compare with unlocked E72 for 259 euro, i would personally go for meteor bill pay, as u entitle for some phone free internet and some phone credit, right ?:D

    Eh.. what?

Why would a company name their supplier or stock levels? Is this another "well... they're no RicherSounds!" argument?

Know many other companies that give a clear indication of stock levels..or ones that indicate suppliers? I'd love to know!

LOL - well I actually thought the "basquille paying the difference" part was funnier but went completely unnoticed - must be a common occurrence ;)

    Oh no.. not again!

I've learned my lesson after paying people the difference for 1200 orders for €69 Compaq PC's from Littlewoods! ;)

Got my new phone today. Whilst it says on the description This great white hope from Finland, The phone I received is actually grey. I'm slightly disappointed as I had my heart set on the white version. However, I can't complain about the price or the delivery time either - top marks. The price was right so I took a punt. Overall I'm happy enough (but would have been raving about all aspects of the transaction had I got my mitts on the ivory!).

    Thanks for the feedback, Duchy!

I have been reading the other infamous thread re: maxroam offers and it appears that there is an issue with some customers not receiving the item (color, specifically) that is advertised on the site etc.,.

I do understand that the price is awesome (and dispatch time too, clearly) however I am one that believes in receiving the item as described/advertised. I would rather not take the chance in these recessionary times ;)

This comment (which I noticed was linked to the previous maxroam thread) about customers (albeit disgruntled customers), put me off too. It does not strike me as a professional attitude from a company representative.

Is the screen on that not comparatively tiny compared to the current generation of iPhone/Touchscreens/Android phones etc?

    - Guessing it does everything else very well or something????

Well it's not a touch screen, so room for buttons is needed! It's got a great battery life, all the features you could need, wifi, gps, etc and it's cheap.

Thanks for that - Seems to be the same screen as my dated E65 turned 90 degrees and I'm made to trade up from that - Plus I've one black corner on it for the past few months.....
