Suspect Norton update

Hello all,
I have Norton antivirus on my work laptop. Today when I switched on my computer a window had opened showing to click for a update to Norton, it looked valid . It uploaded, then said it was removing the Norton that was already on the computer, at that stage I became a little suspicious and shut the laptop down by pressing the on-off button. When I switched it on again it just continued loaded fully, added a toolbar and said had 93 days remaining on the subsciption notice, I think that would be about right for the renewal date.
It just seems a little odd, no e-mail was sent to me, it looks like a flashier version.
Should I be nervous ??

I am not familiar with Norton, but a lot of programs will uninstall previous versions of themselves when they are installing a newer version. That said, you were dead right to be suspicious. Your second best bet is to log a query on the Norton support forums - they'll know the answer for definite.

Your best bet is to (honestly) use a better AV program. If you want to pay for one, I've heard plenty of good things about Kaspersky AV. If you want free go with Avast "home edition".

I had the same thing happen to myself last week too...very strange
