Is it possible to have more than one name on the logbook as the registered owner of the vehicle? I bought a car recently and I asked to have my parter's name put on too and the dealer said not a problem only to have the logbook arrive with just her name on it. Not a huge deal as I can just put it back in mine, but for some reason I thought that you could have 2 registered owners.

no you cant, i tried this las month for my mam and dad as the insurance was working out much much cheaper with my mam as the policy holder but the company in question wanted the car in question in my mams name, i said its in my dads is that ok and they said no.

so i talked to the Dept. Of Transport and they say it cant be done, one name only.

We had the wife's 2003 Ibiza registered in both our names originally, then one day we got something in the post (really can't remember when) telling us to nominate one or the other. Went in to her name as there was no real reason to have my name on.

    Which Insurance company?

My partner is the main policy holder on our car but it's registered in my name. I'm with Axa. They tried to refuse the idea at first but I went onto their website where I pointed out if I do it all online with a credit card I could choose the option of havign a spouse as the registered owner. They put me on to a manager who wanted to check it, took a few mins but he came back apologising saying that I could have her as main policy holder with the car in my name.

And before anyone asks, she is the main driver anyway so the policy is legit. I don't drive it under her name for cheaper insurance, she does most of the driving :)

    :D

Once I got told we could do it with the car in my name we went with the Axa policy but thru a broker so it was even cheaper than what they were giving it to us for :D

It always pays to shop around and haggle your corner.
