Was just wondering if anyone had anyone ever used these or similar in triathlons?? I know obviously it's one more thing to slow you down in T1 but after wasting so much time in Athlone last year hobbling from the water to transition I think I'd have nearly ended up saving myself time! I'm sure there must be increased buoyancy as well (although it's purely for my sensitive feet I was looking!) so has anyone heard of any rules against??

check out the Triathlon Ireland rules
    Section 3.13.3(c) says that:
Artificial aids such as paddles, fins, gloves, socks or other foot coverings and snorkels are prohibited in the swim except where such constitute the essential equipment of an Athlete with a Disability.

That looks like they're not allowed so

As far as I know if you wear anything on your feet - you're out :) (as in dq'ed)

Oh that's disappointing :( Dunno whether they'd honestly make that much of a difference to the swim, but I suppose some people could end up taking the p*ss and turning up with fins and webbed gloves and all sorts!! Oh well! Will have to figure out a way to toughen up the feet over the next couple of weeks!!

I was in that race with finman. It got worse with entire pelatons on the bike (when 20 people with the same club gear are cycling in an up and over formation there is something really wrong!) and I'm sure people cheated on the run as it was out and back laps with no mat at the "out" turnaround point. Still a great race though
