    thanks lads...

i'm assuming you've done these before... would you recommend helicopter or light aircraft?

    Light aircraft here.
    I'm hugely biased though ;)

I think you get more time for your money in an airplane though? And the view is the same!

    I'd say light aircraft.

Although, like Zyox i'm very biased also :D

If it's just a one off with no intention of really learning to fly. Then helicopter. If there's an interest fixed wing.

light aircraft for me as well afaik a one hour lesson in a chopper is nearly double the price of a lght aircraft, which brings me onto my next question why are they more expensive;)

Why more expensive? Even a Robinson R22 has a bigger engine than a comparable light training aircraft. Then there's all those mechanical parts whizzing around. They are maintenance intensive particularly compared to a light aircraft. Which probably only has a fixed pitch propellor attached to an engine. So it all adds up making a small helicopter the equivalent of a much larger light aircraft in terms of cost.

for me it has to be fixed wing but dont listen to all the bias here (sorry lads) go with personal choice :)
