Watching Robertson and Dott in the world snooker championship final and I have to ask how those 2 qualified for the final.Only a Dott vs Ebdon match could be so bad.We know snooker is not fixed, same as horse and dog racing is not fixed but I thought cream always rises to the top?Obviously not in snooker. As I post this, its possible this match could keep going till 4 at least.Bring back the hurricane, even in his present state.

A rare chance to showcase the event to a foreign nation and they are well and truely blowing it!

I wonder how many people are watching in Oz!

No offence but I genuinely don't understand this attitude.

I've seen some serious high quality games over the years. The one that will always stand out is a semi final Saturday morning session (3rd session of 4) between Ronnie and Hendry where between them they barely missed a ball in the 8 frames, with 5 century breaks.
Effectively neither player played a bad shot in 150 minutes of snooker, it was great.

But Roberstson v Dott in the final, both playing badly, virtually every frame in doubt until the 13 or 14 red was potted, both players a bundle of nerves where even the simplest of pots is an inner battle - this was absolute sporting theatre.

    Loved it.

Couldnt agree more, enjoyed this years final more than most finals in the past decade,

This was vintage snooker, the way thorburn v griffiths matches use to be played and people loved it then, so whats changed?

Dont get me wrong, i love Hendry and think he was the greatest ever but has he created the mindset that ONLY perfect, big break, attacking snooker is worth watching?
Thers very little tension, drama or excitement when players are just knockin in centuries frame after frame.

    .

people loved it then:rolleyes: are you having a laugh!!...those guys were a yawnfest and were the butt of jokes back in the day for their ultra-safe tactics

This year was the first time i did'nt bother staying up to the end, it was seriously dire.......robertson won by five frames but it still took him an age to do it.

Most people here are taking a swipe at Dott for being boring but Robertson wasn't much better, he took nearly five minutes deliberating over a shot in the afternoon session, don't know why the ref didn't step in.

Ye, that was unreal alright. He actually stood around for five minutes then decided to put Graham back in. Graham took the piss by clapping his hands. Got a bit ridiculous.

The two of them were running completely empty for the final, Dott had to qualify for the crucibe, & it was Robertsons first time in a crucible final...it was about MORE than snooker last night, it was about who could hang on the longest.

Not vintage by any means, but very tense and nerve racking for me at least. A brilliant end to an otherwise equally brilliant tournament this year, it took the sting out of the Higgins story for me too.

Well done Neil, Im delighted to have a worthy champion!

PS for anyone who doubts the abilities of the finalists, watch the Gould/Robertson & Dott/Allen matches - then come back and tell me thay are crap ;)

I think the semi finals are too long, which in effect causes the players braindrain which is not good for shot selection etc...

I watched as much as possible of the whole event, but switched off once Robertson went 3 up with 5 to play (I think) in the final and went to bed
